Japan as a region

Japan has been pampered by riot, starting with guaranteed slots in Masters and Champions before the franchise league and now having two slots in the VCT pacific league. But despite all this support, Japanese teams haven’t really delivered, with their best showing being a third-place finish at Masters once. It's make me wonder what's going wrong and how the 2nd best tier 2 talent region is struggling to make a mark in pacific league. Forget masters and champions

It's a new region in tac fps, meanwhile other apac regions have dabbled in tac fps or other fps. Playerbase wise JP also started out small. Leading to small talent pool in the first place.

There's nothing wrong with japan as a region, the talents are growing , 15 year old talents starting to show up, tier 2 teams forming their own academy teams, and those who have formed one are releasing academy players into the market. It's growing, but all of this takes time.

Fans are putting massive support onto the scene, however this isn't going to last forever, just like apex the trend will die down and just become another game unless riot manage this properly.

Rome wasn't built in a day as they said it.

Doesn't mean the point doesn't apply now. Other regions can grow too and Japan is trying their best to catch up.

i feel recently (even though the JP teams havent done well) the JP scene in terms of valorant has grown a lot so that can bring more talent, like Gyen.
i know this has been said a lot but JP needs a spark. i WANT to see another JP team go on a run like ZETA did during Reykjavik.
ill give Japan as much time as they need to get a good team together.

i honestly think this year could be a turn around for Japanese Valorant scene.
Yeah they probably wont make a masters, but that doesnt mean you count them out.
remember what happened with ZETA during Reykjavik. Never doubt the underdogs when it comes to valorant.

The JP teams look pretty good this year on paper tbh. Both could make top 6

You should add to consideration that unlike EU/SEA/AMER/CN, PC gaming is a relatively newly popularized concept, and AFAIK gaming are still dominated by console / handheld gamers.

If you see the players, (ex : TenZ, yay, f0rsaken, scream, shroud etc) moved from CS, they already have experience in tac-FPS before. So even if it's a small margin they still have a head start.

They suck because they have their own Tier 2 league. They are new to competitive PC games and the problem is newbies are fighting among themselves.

How can they develop when most of good players in JP challengers are not even japanese? DFM still has atleast 1 korean in their roster and this year they have 2 with Akame and Jinboong. Lowkey JP fans can only rely on Zeta but even them wouldn't achieve the height that set by other Pacific teams

im still surprised people wants to gatekeep valorant at this point, idk why you want to watch the same 10 teams from the same country over and over again, there will be some point where a team will be so bad that they will be even worse than the jp teams you complaining about, there is no country on valorant with enough talent to fill more than 3 top teams and thats a fact not even NA with 2 countries with huge player base can fill more than 3 top teams at once why would you want to make apac a korean league???

They're both good but are the same archetype. Would be a waste to change roles.
