LxT 4

Ludwig suggested doing a world cup near the end of the LxT 3 stream, and I personally think it'd be a great idea.
This year had an amazing format but I'd fw a world cup heavy. Even if they do this years format again it'll be great, best off season event in this game so far imo.

here's a few suggestions for countries (these are hypothetical, it doesn't have to be them)

USA
Canada
Brazil
UK
France
Turkey
Japan
Korea

That'll be 3 AMER, 3 EMEA and 2 APAC for example (APAC sort of gets the short end of the stick, but I think it'd have to be that way because of the timezones). I think inviting 8 teams from the biggest countries would be a good place to start, just to see if the idea sticks. 8 Is a nice number for a double elim bracket too so each country gets a minimum of two matches

2 NA teams
2 SA teams
2 EU teams
1 TR team
1 CIS team
2 KR team
2 SEA teams

i was gonna include japan but they need to qualify for regional playoffs first (which, despite having 2 teams, they couldn't do this year 😭)

should just be one each and by nation/ethnicity

so zekken can still represent filo and there can be a moroccan suiperteam

don't say that, otherwise we're gonna end up with boaster mistic and soulcas on the same team again

then why 2 eu teams

nah I would want countries not regions/subregions. ik spike nations is a thing but LxT has way more reach. for 8 teams lets have:

USA
Canada
UK
France
Brazil
Japan
Korea
Turkey
(it doesn't have to be these countries, I've just put them as an example)
imagine how hard that tournament would go

listen man i know you're from the UK but a team with boaster mistic and soulcas is simply not going to work. you can clone benjyfishy and this roster still won't do shit

And whats wrong with that??? Id watch a match where UK players are getting humiliated

The thing is, it's an off season event, so imo it's completely fine if the rosters aren't minmaxed. I'll root for my team even if it's bad (I'm more than certain I'm not the only one who'd do the same). Also It's not the most nice thing to admit but a ton of people will hatewatch, and as the saying goes 'any publicity is good publicity' (in this context publicity = viewership)

Completely forgot about Lime. I'd put him in over YaBoiLewis

This roster is good tbh, but to maximise viewership I'd go with:

Boaster, Benjyfishy, Keiko, Soulcas, Ardiis

(Ardiis uses the Latvian flag but he's lived in the UK for most of his life, and well... you can tell he's a scouser by listening to him speak lol)

but that doesn't count does it? zekken is filo but has been in america for all his life ( i think) so zekken team USA can be done?

It heavily depends, absolutely no disrespect to Latvia or PH but for an 8 team world cup tournament I don't think they'd get their countries in. But lets say hypothetically a PH team was in, I'd give zekken the choice on which team he'd want to represent, just like the football WC.

But to answer your question, yes Zekken would hypothetically be team USA

so if there was no team from a players country, could you join another country, in case of johnqt can he join team USA?

I think (Correct me if I'm wrong) JohnQT lives in Canada so he'd play for them

I mean, as much as I'd love to have a world cup

Team USA, Turkiye, or Korea would just demolish the competition

I think it's more competitive and entertaining if is region based

Bbl and fut are totally demolishing the competition!

#15

FUT would. They are the only team from EMEA that is completely based in one country

#13

imo that's completely fine. Imagine a double elim bracket, that's at least 2 games I get to watch my country play.
imo there's no shame in it being less competitive, trust me country vs country makes every game entertaining if you're from one of the countries

Those 2 teams you mentioned have a flavour of management's stupidity running on the team.. it's not necessarily because they're bad...

Also they bring in views

imagine a decently sized venue to go along with it

I mean if he actually does a world cup kinda thing , people will definitely come to watch plus lot of people will also watchparty so the money would be there to get a big venue

#17

Will he do it this year tho??

by that do you mean 2025? since LxT 3 just ended.
Near the end of the stream he made the suggestion, and I thought it was a good idea so I made a post about it

USA
Chile
Brazil
Poland
Turkey
Russia
China
Korea
Indonesia
Australia
for europe/apac you could also do qualifiers to decide the countries going as they are all pretty evenly matched with the right rosters

#30
KClaw

Frags

Qualifiers and stuff will take some heavy planning and funding , my guess they will definitely need some other sponsors besides them and redbull to host it on major scale

#32
Aayan

imo they should just invite 8 teams from the biggest countries for the first year to see if it works, qualifiers might be expensive and time consuming so I think it'd only be worth their time if year 1 of a WC format goes well

no chinese? :(

#36

I thought ab it but CN is a bit out there without having a benchmark of how an event like this will do. CN streaming rights and getting the CN players is gonna be a lot harder than the others, plus being able set up a whole separate stream in CN with CN casters is gonna add to the cost. I would defo want to see it eventually but I think for the 1st event play it safe, invite 8 big countries with relatively low setup cost

#38
GambleNats

you dont really need that tho, just do an invite based system for the chinese team(s) and you dont need a CN casters/stream do you? stuff like the AFTV to my knowledge had chinese teams without such

#39
Aayan
1
Frags

imo you do, if you really want to reach an audience you make it as easy as possible for them to access it. This tournament isn't really meant to be competitive to the degree of AFTV (you don't have full tier 1 teams with weeks of practice), but for viewership instead. Plus you have to consider timezones. How many people are gonna stay up for a stream not in their language. I think it really would be better to wait and do it properly, I'm probably being ambitious but if by year 2 of a LxT WC if we can get a LAN in Europe that would be the time to do it
