Truth is that competitive valorant is still at its baby steps. Franchising is not even 3 years old still. With that in mind the amount of players that won anything is very low so i mean Ange1 is there for lack of options since he won a masters so thats at least something. Looking back at it i would probably switch him and Tuyz thou

botster and ange1 could be 11/12 but the ones above are just overall better at the actual controller part of the game once you remove the igling factor

the truth is most players are flex smokes
shao is definitely one of the best players to play smokes but hes not maining it
but tenz is still better than everyone below him besides for marved(rather have tenz legacy on smokes, marved was in 2022, and tenz playstyle isn't as lurky and more direct, you can argue that its more effective due to this), chichoo isnt the main smokes for edg, he just plays it alot
The utility was good... amongst a bunch of bums. And even then Id argue boaster had better util usage.
Boaster was better rated then zombs at every tournament they both played in and he was better rated at tokyo and sao paolo than zombs was at reykjavik, while IGLing too. There is quite literally 0 chance zombs is a better smokes player than him.
Shao at copenhagen was also leagues above anything zombs ever did.
It’s a tough ask since only Mako is the only smokes player with more than a year of consistent dominance among his peers.
Pancada, Marved, s0m, Tuyz, Demon1, Tenz, Karon, and Smoggy have had stunning single-year performances but are all hard to rank because of longevity. Mindfreak has the tenure but he’s always been one of the weakest players on his team — and you can’t argue for Boaster or Ange1 since they won trophies in spite of their poor individual performances and not because of it.
It’s a role that’s pretty much up for grabs if one of those players can step up and take 2025. My money is on Demon1 being the standout but there’s more competition when it comes to qualifying for internationals.
