It’s because nrg have absolute dogshit coaches who try to cook too much and force their players off their preferred playstyle for no other reason than “it’ll work trust me”

not really, JoshRT (winning ascension) and Chet (winning masters) have been pretty successful outside of NRG
other than that chet one of the reasons why demon1 struggled

2024 NRG was a flop
2023 NRG was a top 3 Americas team
2022 NRG was a top 4-6 NA team that just unfortunately missed LANs due to other teams going on runs, they lost to 100T in LCQ and choked against C9. lost out to XSETs run and a hot Faze team for 4th place to miss Copenhagen.

yeah but its still crazy almost every single player to play for nrg had their best moments somewhere else

s0m has always been good and has been the long standing build around piece, but yeah unfortunately thats true, but saying the org is where talent goes to die is a wild statement.

This makes me wonder how NRG 2022 flopped so badly; eeiu, tex, s0m and ethan are all super good players and three of those players have achieved some sort of success (ethan with champs 2023 and tex and eeiu americas regional trophies) hazed while being their worst player has insane chemistry with them and they even had joshRT who was pivotal to g2 being as good as they are today.

lack of a good IGL, if that 2022 NRG team had a proper IGL like POISED or FNS instead of hazed then it would be different

hazed is like a worse FNS, can't frag well outside of rare occasions and he was a mid americas IGL.

Tex was far more inconsistent than what he was on TGRD and LEV at that point, with him and s0m flipping between duelist roles which neither play now at the top level.

Ethan and Eeiu were always good on that team, but I'd say mainly the IGLing was the problem and I loved that 2022 roster. Plus in 2022 you had to contend with Optic XSET and TGRD.

People forget that NRG and EG in 2022 were good just not good enough to make LANs, and that EG roster was a mix of the 2023/24 teams.

Omen meta fucked them over this year, Demon1 wayy too inflexible.

The issue with trying to make rosters with these weird ass role structures is that a single patch can ruin everything.

Having flexible players who can adapt to the meta is quite literally the meta above all metas. That's why I unironically rate icy higher than Demon1 just because he can play jett and raze
