Map pools

Is there a reason why we even have map pools in place? Like what purpose do they have? Anyways, no map pool changes is absolutely disgusting. I cant believe they think that having Icebox, breeze, and ascent in the same pool was ever a good idea. The 3 worst maps in the game and no haven or pearl to balance it out.

was split ever replaced with pearl? i remember that happening i was genuinely pissed then since they did not remove breeze
