what if 2024 sentinels vs current fnatic who would you think will win?
Its not that Masters or other official events dont matter
its that specifically LOCK//IN was a fluke no qual single elim fraudulent tournament after the biggest roster shuffle in Valorant history with no meta or prep + Flukeyo was directly after and Fraudnatic benefitted from running the stalest most basic strats imaginable so it was easier for them to slot people in
That's why they looked put together in the 2 for-fun tournaments and got dismantled when it counted
Sure, there were roster changes and whatnot but I don't think that should take away from Fnatics victory. It's not like they had a stroll in the park. I also wouldn't say that Masters Tokyo was a fluke, because while some teams did have subs, ultimately Fnatic did look better than everyone else, and it isn't their fault. They were just better.
Also, I wonder why the team with everyones expectations on their back lost in the biggest event of the year. Surely it can't be due to a myriad of factors that don't contain "fraud team" right?
You didn't make a single point here other than "they won and they looked better than everyone else"
Surely it can't be due to a myriad of factors that don't contain "fraud team" right?
They lose in Champions because their duelist is not a world class player and they have a content creator instead of an IGL. They run the same slow defaults and sloppy executes every round on every map and pray that Alfajer, the only world class player on the roster, can bail them out. It has been years of Fnatic, specifically b0tster and mini's Fnatic, being unable to come up big when it matters. People will tell you that they're "choking", but in reality they are getting free international qualifications from a region with no talent or structure, and then getting player for player diffed and outstratted against major regions.
Its not the performance or placing in LOCK//IN and Tokyo that Im discrediting, its the narrative that comes with it. They played against the least prepared teams we have seen since SEN shitstomped Iceland in 2021 and people are convinced that Fnatic is a god team and its such a shock that they lost. They aren't finishing on a podium this year. They will breeze through EMEA Kickoff, go to Madrid, get out of their group (assuming this event has a similar format to other masters, I haven't seen anything about it), and then lose to every non-EMEA team and take a short flight home.
you have just admitted to having 0 understanding of how the game works. You say they have the same executes when that is just not true. If you actually watch the matches you would see that they have multiple different plays and setups and are rarely ever relying on just alfajer or just one player, but keep crying. Fnatic will win again and you can cope more than we can all laugh.
Only way Fnatic ever wins anythings:
Only thing they change up is which corners to hide in on their defaults 😭
Fraudulent team with braindead fans kkkkkkkkkkkkk
I don't think I need to make another point. What I stated was simply factual. They won the tournaments, and looked better than everyone else. Of course, by the time Champions LA rolled around things had changed for the other teams.
Despite all that, I still think you're underplaying Fnatics skill and ability. Also, I disagree with your statement of EMEA being "a region with no talent or structure."
Because sentinels have only proven themself in the off season while Fnatic are proven internationally
Excluding Afreeca Sen only played against t2 and lower tier franchised teams. They looked great at Afreeca but Paper Rex was still giga trolling
Fnatic are two time major winners and proven internationally. they won the biggest off season event ever without having practiced before hand and by running it down the whole event
The most important event of the year is of course gonna have the largest prize pool, that doesn’t take away from the significance of other events of the year
Champs 2021 and 2022 had larger prize pools then the masters events of the year
DRX played with their main roster what do you mean
https://www.vlr.gg/291475/drx-promote-flashback-bench-rb-zest
yeah right riot just tripled the prize money for no reason went from
1st $300,000 2022 to 1st $1,000,000 2023
not even the the record breaking worlds 2023 did the winner get 1 M lol
https://lol.fandom.com/wiki/2023_Season_World_Championship
lol DRX benched rb and zest after AfreecaTV nice try
Bro what do you mean no reason, champs is the most important tournament of the year ofc it’s gonna have a bigger prize pool then masters.
And what the fuck does 2023 champs having a higher prize pool than 2022, and champs in general having a higher prize pool have to do with lock in not being a major? All an increased prize pool from year to year is a sign that the esport is growing
DRX playing with two subs (now main roster) at the time of the event doesn’t take away from every other reason I mentioned why redbull was bigger
don't you want to understand it? The only reason Riot increased Champ's prize money is
because only 2 of 3 Valorant majors took place in 2023
Lock in is therefore not even for riot a major
riot is just doing what csgo did in 2021 when PGL Major Stockholm 2021 prize money was also doubled
because due to covid there was only one major in 2021
All major winners after 2021 had the normal prize money of 500k again, only Navi 2021 received 1m as the winner
They only increased the prize pool because lock-in wasn’t a major? Maybe they increased the prize pool for the sake of increasing the prize pool?
And has riot actually said any of this or is this just a guess
Also lock in had a fucking 500k prize pool so how does that discredit its tournament importance?
How is the label of a tournament this much of a midblock for you. NO MATTER if the tournament was a major or not, LOCK//IN looked like one of the most competitive events of the year. Far more than Afreeca, like ?? Hello? So many teams were in form; NRG, NAVI, Leviatan, Furia, DRX, Cloud9 and LOUD of course. To discredit FNATIC's win in one of the most competitive events of the year, is batshit crazy.
On paper you can say anything about literally whatever about anything. Sen were on paper able to compete with Fnatic at lock in but they got cooked
Last time we saw fnatic in VCT they came 4th at the biggest event of all time, we haven’t even seen this version of sentinels in an environment that actually matter
I’m not saying it’s impossible for sen to win I’m just saying fnatic is the heavy favorite
