THE EARTH IS FLAT

I believe that the Earth is flat. The main reason for my belief is that the Earth appears flat and stationary from our everyday experience. When I look around, I don't see any noticeable curvature, and the horizon seems perfectly level. It seems logical to trust our own observations rather than relying on complex scientific theories.

Another point I consider is that gravity, as explained by mainstream science, is not convincing to me. The concept of gravity pulling objects towards the center of a spherical Earth seems counterintuitive. I find it more plausible that objects simply fall downward due to density and buoyancy, as observed in our daily lives.

Furthermore, I question the validity of satellite images and space exploration missions. The images of the Earth taken from space could be manipulated or distorted, so I find it hard to trust them as evidence of a spherical Earth. Additionally, the information we receive about space missions comes from organizations such as NASA, which I believe have a vested interest in maintaining the round Earth narrative.

Lastly, historical references are often cited as evidence for a spherical Earth. However, I believe that ancient civilizations interpreted their observations based on their limited knowledge and understanding of the world. Their beliefs may not necessarily align with reality.

In conclusion, based on my personal observations, skepticism towards mainstream science's explanations, doubts about the validity of satellite images, and the reinterpretation of historical references, I am convinced that the Earth is flat.

AITA for asking my husband to buy wine for people he invited over?
Backstory - my (27,F) husband (29,M) informed me at 230 today that he invited a couple over for after work. I have met the guy 2 or 3 times but have never met his wife. They have also never been over to our house.

On to the issue- I am still working at about 4 pm (I work from home) and my husband informs me that the couple said they would bring over food. This was perfect for me as I was still working and would honestly scramble a bit to clean and put together dinner by 6. He asks what they should bring and I was half distracted and after he asked a few times I said “how about something easy like pizza…. We can do pizza and wine”

I get off work at about 4:15 and my husband starts by saying “you don’t need to clean for friends to just casually hang out” I explain that I would like to run some bleach in the toilets and a mop on the floor as I don’t know these people and they have never been to our house before. That it would be different if a friend I am close with who comes over all the time came over. He stated “fine, but I am going to sit on the couch and do nothing” I then walked over to our wine rack and noticed we only had 3 bottles of sickly sweet wine - nothing dry or even semi-dry. So I asked him if he could go to buy some wine while I clean up.

He blew up on me about how “we don’t need to spend $100 everytime we have people over or make our house into a showroom” and he was going to stop inviting people over if it was going to make me like this. I honestly love having people over but not last minute on a work day.

So Reddit, AITA for asking my husband to buy wine when he invited people over? In my book, if you are hosting and the people coming over are providing food, you should at the very least provide drinks.

So, can we all go live in Mars or not ??..

If the Earth was flat, then everyone would be experiencing night at around the same time.

Since the Sun would be visible to everyone on earth on the horizon the moment it appears on one site of the "disk", then when sunrise happens in Tokyo, the some guy in Paris would see the sun popping out from the east too. But that is clearly not the case because the sun is perfectly visible in the middle of the sky on one side of the world while the sky is completely pitch black on the opposite side.

Furthermore, ancient civilizations having a "less" informed worldview doesn't actually prove anything against the quality of their scientific findings. The Ancient greeks proved the curvature of the earth mathematically, using the same math that we use today, and if you do that same math you will get the same result no matter what era.

The reason you don't see curvature in the horizon is because the earth is so big that it looks flat from up close. For example, if you increasingly give a polygon more and more sides, it will slowly become more round until you can barely even tell that it has individual sides--but if you look at each of those sides from up close and ignore the rest, it'll look flat. If you ever see a ship sailing off into the horizon, notice how (even before it becomes too small to see) the bottom part of it starts to get covered up by water until it looks like the ship sunk into the water. No it didn't sink, it just got obscured by the curvature of the earth
