LOCK-IN EXPOSED (In English)

Comments:

Some dude posted a link but wrote in Portuguese so a lot of the users don’t know what he was saying

https://twitter.com/overizando/status/1626786857257246720

Basically, Riot organized the event instead of Riot Brazil, which ended up in idiotic organizing, people have to spend 100 dollars on the ticket but cannot enter the arena with backpacks, water bottles or food of any kind, which means most fans that bought tickets but where coming from other cities/countries or work/school could not enter since they have luggage. ( there is also no rentable safekeeping or any space to leave your stuff )

OG - https://www.vlr.gg/post/1814144/exposed-lock-in

(Edit for the Americans, We have laws that prohibit events from barring someone’s entrance with food if food is also sold at the venue, it is considered anti-ethical for businesses that sell tickets to try and force people to buy food at their venues. It is seen as exploratory)

There are places in the world that let you go into venues with backpacks or outside food/drink? Wtf this is like standard for safety measures no?

My spanish is shit but I can understand a little of portuguese because that:
Basically this woman said that Riot did "Tying" to sell other things, basically you cannot even enter in event with water bottle (300ml) and you need to buy inside where it costs around 13, but for buy water bottle you need to buy a card first that cost around 5.
You cannot join with bag or anything else, If you want something you need to buy inside, no food allowed, nothing. You need to buy everything inside where it costs 3x more.

and looks like it was unbearably hot in the arena, some people even passed out.

Basically Riot is trying to sell other things in Event (even a "credit card" to be able to buy things inside arena) with seems to be illegal practice in their country

By the way, in Brazil law it's a crime, you cannot do something we call "venda casada" (tying). "Tying (informally, product tying) is the practice of selling one product or service as a mandatory addition to the purchase of a different product or service." - Wikipedia

You can't force someone to throw their food or something in order to enter in an event that they paid for.

And it is federal law, anywhere in Brazil this practice is prohibited and in fact Apple was fined 19 million dollars in Brazil for the same reason, venda casada. It's funny that Riot has already been notified in the past here in Brazil that they would be fined because of venda casada and they are doing the same thing again xd

No, Its standard to inspect the inside of backpacks but not to stop people from coming with them Or to stop them when they have food or drinks

In Brazil it's illegal an event don't let people enter with a sealed drink or food so they can only buy inside. I don't know how that would be called in english but it's like forcing people to buy from you

I mean not letting them to bring backpacks is somewhat reasonable, to prevent bombers. but without providing rental locker rooms? that is just dumb

Thats the thing, Not in Brazil, we deemed it exploratory to stop food from entering When You Sell It inside. So yeah sorry you get explored by big businesses but we don’t like that type of shit here

we simply inspect the bags before you enter an event, there, security issues solved

You have to understand this: in Brazil, it's a crime you stopping someone from attending a concert, event, or anything similar, that s/he paid for because of some kind of food (especially forcing them to only buy inside).
Riot Global is the one doing this, not Riot Brazil, they know the laws, and how things work here. This bomb thing is bullshit, since I'm alive since my mother is alive, my grandma, I never heard of anything like this happening here lol.

The worst thing is that this system of selling using a card the way Riot is doing in this event IS PROHIBITED BY LAW IN BRAZIL: Venda casada, art. 39 in the consumer code CDC,

Cmon bro, I entered with my backpack in the Brazilian World Cup.
In brazil is very common the inspection of the bag to enter, but the rare is not to enter with it. Brazil has a continental size with a lot of not-that-rich people. Not everyone can pay for a hotel so they just bring the "daily bag" and bus ticket (Yes, not everyone can fly, probably the majority was by bus. From my city is 10 hrs). I dont know if is illegal the prohibition of bags without a place to put it but is clearly unethical. If i have a notebook in my bag and they dont let me enter, i will just leave and go back to my city.

I dont even need to say about the prohibition of closed food and water, which was an ILEGAL move from Riot. They will be billed by the government for sure.
Yes, brazil is hot, but not that much. Im sure the heat here is unhealthy for the workers.
We will not have any more big tournaments bc Riot cant deal with Brazil's culture and legislation. If u are doing "THE BIGGEST VALORANT EVENT EVER" in a country, u need at least to know the Rules bro.

From someone who has been at the Brazilian World Cup, Confederation Cup, Olympics, cmon even at Paul Mccartney Show, this event is just BAD.
Bad production, bad structures, bad relations with the public, bad in every single point. Just Ridiculous that Riot let this happen. Sorry the English

Listen me they already told this a month before tickets were released in their article, people don't read stuff and do prior arrangements how is rito at fault? The cited reasons too

#43
brdreamer

Frags

The items mentioned in the article is well known here such as umbrella and other items that might cause physical harm, not food (not only to mention 10000x times in this thread that it's a crime here in Brazil to forbid such a thing).

#46

Riot broke 2 Brazilian federal laws in this event and it's not their fault? If they had warned everything right before the event it wouldn't have even happened because they would be fined and the fine for consumer protection laws are quite high and still provide mandatory refund and compensation to those affected.

#52

I have 0 knowledge about br laws ? But prohibiting outside food is a crime in a private property? Damn your cinemas would be so lit

#55
brdreamer
3
Frags
+

Nah, you can sell inside, but you can't force someone to only buy inside and can't enter with his own food. For example, if you are in a mall and want to go to the cinema, you go to Mcdonald's to buy something, and you are not prohibited to enter the cinema because you have food with you. But if they force you to throw your food in the bin and only buy inside, it's a crime.

You go to a concert and its the same shit no? Overpriced food and drinks inside the venue is a standard for live events. The rule about the backpacks i dont understand those tho.

#49
brdreamer
1
Frags
+

It depends on where you live. You can sell inside here in Brazil at concerts and events BUT you CAN'T forbid someone from entering with food just to force them to buy inside, it's a federal law. (not only to mention that Riot had trouble before in BR cause of that. Apple had to pay $19 million cause of that as well). It's a different country and culture.
I must say I like this, it's not fair that I go to a Mcdonald's, BK, or any other shit, buy my food, and can't enter an event that I paid for (the ticket) cause I have food in my hands lol.

#54

They cant do that.
Is quite simple actually, in Brazil is illegal under two different laws, Código do Consumidor art. 39, I and art. 5º, II, law n.º 8.137/90.
If you pay for a ticket and you cant enter with food/water, they HAVE TO let you out to eat. They CANT make you eat there.
If they dont let you out, they HAVE TO let you enter with food. Is just the law. Not the Riot first time.

Bom post.
Vou deixar isso aqui também como no outro post:

EDIT: Translate for machine =

MAIN TOPICS

  • She begins by exposing that the event was sold as "The biggest event in the history of valorant".
  • She traveled far
  • She says it looks like a regional event in every way
  • Admission: Absolutely everything is banned, you cannot take a mousepad (for players to sign), deodorant, pen (for those who go after class), water bottle, snack brought from home (the event takes 10 hours on average)
  • People come in thirsty and there is a big complaint about a card that you can use to get water. The card is sold for 5 reais (do not pay attention to the values in "reais", as you will not be able to measure it), and the water is sold for 8 reais. Summary: If you are going to drink only 1 water at the event, it is more than twice as expensive as at lollapalooza
  • About food, she says she doesn't have many options and the ones she does have are very expensive
  • The stands are empty even with all the tickets FULL
  • VERY HOT. This is a complaint even from some players if I'm not mistaken, but there's no ventilation inside, it doesn't pass air properly. Everyone is melting, the security guards are dripping with sweat, the cameramen are rolling up their sleeves to see if they can hold up.
  • Disregard for content creators who can do absolutely nothing there, they have no support for content creators who want to show the event.
  • Meet&greet: No date, no time or any specification. They were unable to meet with the players, she complains that the environment set up for this is extremely precarious.
  • On Tuesday, the games ended at 10 pm, very late at night and they were KICKED out of the venue (the fence that surrounds the event), being sent directly to the street to wait for the taxi. Which made her scared that it was so late, but she says she was lucky because she had a lot of people in the same situation.
  • Plus a bunch of stuff, like Riot was piling them up to get out on camera, but they were all separated because of the heat, and when they did, it was hell.

I think that counts for the price of her flight to sao paulo
but the tickets are much cheaper, 55 half 110 full in reais, so divide it by 5 to get it in dollars
