Fns
yes it's definitely his calling style that makes
tenz the best player in the world
sick the most flexible player
dapr one of the most creative sentinels and clutch
zombs the best single site anchor
shahzam is a great player. one of the best for sure. but his igling prowess is not the reason sentinels are so good lol
obviously, im not saying hes a dogshit igl and sentinels are carried by individual skill. im saying he's an average igl who does enough for where the team can succeed
hes overrated because fans think hes literally the einstein of valorant and that he's singlehandedly outbraining every team they play against
history of leading different teams to success
pioneering strategies/creating setups that other teams later adopt
ability to defeat teams that are considered to be mechanically stronger through intelligent play
incorporating individual play in a way that synergizes with your calling
testimonies from other pro players remarking on their game knowledge
examples of igls i would consider great: glaive, gob b, ex6tenz, fallen, steel (for chaos) in valorant i would say vanity
history of leading teams to success is unfair for someone like shahz since this team is his first time IGLing.
SEN also made a lot of comps that are still used today and have pioneered the meta.
third point is fair I dont have anything to argue against that.
fourth is literally what SEN is all about
and for the fifth point I'm sure there's countless clips of players calling shahz a good/great IGL it's just that it's not spammed/posted everywhere.
I disagree
I think that what makes a good igl is their exp and being able to pull the team together and to pioneer the meta. Sen have deff not pioneered the meta, they have been reluctant to make changes according to the meta, which isnt and issue considering they aren't losing much. My only issue is when I see all the clips about how much stuff is done on the fly.
Firstly Shaz's unorthodox igling style has plenty of issues, im not saying its bad I just think that many things can be improved on. Shaz's igling is very dependant on his teams performance, because they dont have a coach he hasnt made many complex strats and does a lot of things on the fly and relies on how well his team plays. THey may have good synergy but he calls very much off how the enemy team plays he heavily counter strats and relies on core fundamentals instead of creating their own strats. This type of igling style becomes an issue when they vs newer teams or teams that play similar to them. We have seen it multiple times, when they played aganist BBG, ABX. I think that Shaz's igling and Sen's complexity will be extremely increased with the addition of a coach.
I dont think that Sen is bad I just think that their are some things to work on from what I can see.
I like everything that you said but the thing that doesn't really make sense is that you think majority of the things they do is done on the fly. Yes i do but don't agree with that because at the start they obviously have a set play for the round/half but when a team "reads" that they're now to come up with something on the fly. Yes he relies on the world class performances from his teammates but at the same time the players were given a set play but was ruined or wrecked due to them dying or getting read. Depending on fundamentals isn't too bad in my opinion cause if its consistently working and your play around with it then its not like your consistently REUSING IT.
When you say BBG and ABX, as of right now BBG are 1-0 against them. Yes SEN were outclassed in that April Match but that was a new BBG, a team we have never seen before but at the same time looking at today BBG haven't been able to do the same to other teams, but that's if "ShahZaM igling" is predictable. Onward to ABX, they are 1-4 against SEN, the 1W they have is a OT 2:0 which was really surprising same as BBG, a new team, with prodigies but I don't think they really adapted to them moving forward. I have nothing wrong with what your saying, I'm just saying what I think!
I agree that a coach can increase the desicion making, strats and flexablity of the SEN roster, letting off ShahzaM doing all the coaching/IGLing"
He doesn't have any coaches to help him out and Sentinels are still the best team in NA at anti stratting other teams and in general... Sure he has 4 great teammates but NRG has a stacked roster, and without daps, they are failing. Not to mention that he is the only good IGL(at least in NA) that can IGL while playing a duelist.
I don't get any of these points regarding Shahzam being an overrated igl.
I'd say as much as 50-70% of Sentinel's success is because of his midround calling and IGLing. The players on sentinels are great, but I'm confident in saying that it is Shahzam's igling which makes them seem spectacular. As much as I hate the guy, he's a pretty damn good IGL and isn't overrated in any way. No one on the sentinels roster are the best players in their respective field (2 or 3 better sentinel and controller players than Dapr and Zombs) but yet their team is so good because of his IGL.
