If this was about who plays the game best it would be:
6 EMEA 4 NA 1 BR 1KR 1APAC 1LATAM 1 SEA + 1 WHAT EVER THEY WANT
Bro, look at your top5-10 from NA, fucking dogshit teams, i will name some eu teams that would destroy them(apart from the for at champs): guild, fpx, navi, g2, giants, big, excel, tenstar, ldn utd, alliance, vitality, any of the top3 turkish teams, rebels, wave, team queso, giants, koi. Any of those teams are better than fucking nrg, akrew, tsm, gen g, luminosity and those kinda wacky teams, just look at 100t who had to pick EU tier 2 igl who has been dreadful all year
I will correct you on your attempted correction if you don't mind, but first I'll remind you that starting off condescending, and then going immediately into name calling, is the worst way possible to get someone to agree with you.
Your desire to see what you believe to be the "highest level of gameplay" is less important as Riot's need to ensure their esport thrives. That will never change, and your opinion as a single EU viewer is no more important than the desires of an SEA, APAC, KR, etc. viewer. If you leave because of "bad tournament slot distribution", there'll be a fan from another region to take your place because their region was actually meaningfully represented and they were actually excited about it, instead of getting pissed because your region didn't get half of the tournament slots. Remember, it's a privilege to be in a region where you can decide which team to be a fan of, instead of being saddled with one decent team for your whole region (see NA CS during 2021).
Also remember that the EU fanbase does not dominate VAL like it does in CS, so Riot has far less of a reason to cater specifically to the EU fanbase. Not only that, the EU fanbase has very little room for revenue growth since CS dominates the region's tac FPS viewership, so it's advantageous for Riot to invest in other regions more.
If I rephrase your thoughts in a less malicious fashion, and I recalibrate it to actually represent the competitive level of the smaller regions, this is what we get:
"I would rather watch a tournament with 12 of the 25 best teams in the world, instead of the actual top 12 teams in the world, if it means that each region gets to send multiple teams"
International tournaments are what we're talking about after all, yes?
EU already gets the vast plurality of slots, I'm amazed you're complaining when the esport could literally die in a year or two in some of these smaller regions/regions that don't play as much tac FPS as EU.
I was baiting + we dont do it, we dont do that in CS, no1 refers to EU only tournament as world championships, only the major is considered one although if you are the one winning EU events you are probably the best itw because the rest of the world sucks, we are different we dont those cringey american things
m8 you cant seriously think I am being serious, you need some time in hltv cuz you take everything you read on a forum seriously to the point you write a post like that one, and I am informed, ofc I understand why they would give smaller region slots + enjoy international matches even if they arent as high quality as EMEA regional ones. I dont agree with the little slots EMEA has in champions tho, it wouldnt hurt to give the strongest region at least 1 more slot for more high quality matches and probably one more to NA just for the viewership they bring
I could have a good logical comeback, you can argue for both sides of the argument there is no correct answer, just what you feel is more important for your esports scene, if you value getting the highest level and making the game less regional then thats good and if you care about growing the game in smaller regions and making a world championship with a lot of regional qualifiers then thats also good, dont try to act smart because after all you are just an american, you cant compete with my intellect m8 + you are assuming im taking the conversation as seriously as you are while I am just baiting responses and trying to make others mald, you are clearly working harder im not even using my brain while in writing
Look at the massive list of partner teams for each CS tournament and say that. More than half of the ESL Pro League teams are partnered orgs with ESL and will never lose their spot regardless of what roster they field, even if they're bad.
It has very little to do with quality of skill and everything to do with available funding for paying off TOs.
Those partnered teams are also some of the best teams out there its not like they are dogshit and we are missing out on incredible teams who are not partnered, also you can easily qualify if you are good enough, there are plenty of slots for nonpartnered teams (basically you always get the best teams one way or another) + Pro League is kinda dog tho, the main ESL circuit where you get invites based on points (Katowice, Cologne, etc.. is better)
