I reckon with gekko sova you would play a dive duelist. For gekko to be a flash initiator if you lose his flash early in the round you are cooked to rehit sites.

Gekko is still shit for pro play unfortunately

nope lol gekko is extremely good for pro play with how much utility is valued, it would be better to say in RANKED that gekko is shit because its site hit after site hit. in pro play u need as much util to work the map

Fade's kit is strong with double prowlers, seize combos, scans ofc, and site wide ult. Scans are still meta, Gekko didn't get a new scan ability. I think this Gekko change helps but I don't see how the buff changes that dynamic. The place I could see him sneaking in is teams who are forcing Tejo now you can play Gekko and have a more aggro flushing initiator that can use mosh early for space and have it again in post-plant. Even with that I think there are better Initiator pairings not to mention better team comps than double initiator.

good argument, the way i see it is waylay is almost instapicked in every map. most teams are running double duelist and double initator kijnd of counteracts double duelist. if you pair waylay gekko and a flash or recon ini its very strong interms of setplays retakes and even reclears. you spend what 20s to reclear any space. his flash is really good in terms of reclearing, some say its easy to shoot but so is a dart. your using it to check information not necessarly know how many. its very weak in terms of single initator, i still thijnk its far better than fade in double ini comps.

"if you pair waylay gekko and a flash or recon ini its very strong interms of setplays retakes and even reclears"

  • In theory I think this is true, but there are many other initiating pairings with a Waylay dive that are strong in theory. In practice if you miss or your Waylay can't capitalize off the space there will be less chance Gekko can reclaim his mosh, which is the point for playing him now.

"some say its easy to shoot but so is a dart."

  • A dart is harder to shoot and it has the potential to break your crosshair placement more. Dizzy is a slow moving object and can't reach the same height as a Sova dart or Fade eye. If Dizzy was harder to break, say more than 20 hp you would have a point, but that is not the case.

"most teams are running double duelist and double initator kijnd of counteracts double duelist" and "its very weak in terms of single initator, i still thijnk its far better than fade in double ini comps."

  • Yes a lot of teams are running Waylay/Yoru comps, but I don't think it is as simple as double duelist is countered by double initiator, especially with these two duelists. For instance Waylay does dive and take space like a duelist should, but she does so in order to clear important site positions, saturate an enemy, and refract away while her team execs on the hindered enemy. In my eyes that is more the duty of an info and flushing initiator, same with Yoru he occupies an over-powered hybrid role where he can take space, initiate for himself or his team, and hold defensive space like a Chamber. Personally I think double controller would counter these two duelists more, especially Viper, who happens to be another OP hybrid agent. I think ironically you give up too much flexibility by playing Gekko, even though his reclaim is designed to give more flexibility throughout a round.

Maybe you see the game differently, personally I just don't see a Gekko being able to sustain themselves or their team through this specific double duelist exec or get maximum value from his reclaim when retaking. I can see him being good at flushing Yoru/Chamber/Jett off of defensive lines, but like I said you can accomplish that in other ways and bring a stronger or more flexible agent and ult into the comp instead.

literally you cannot compare Fade to Gekko because they are fundamentally different types of initiator, the reason Gekko doesn't see pro play is because it's not double initiator meta it's double duelist + Gekko is generally buns even with the buff
