I can't understand how some pro players can be consistently mechanically bad with utility? (bad raze satchels, sage slows, repeated team flashes)

My friends and I are silver-plat with mediocre aim but we're very comfortable with just about any ability in the game, and I think most other players in these middle ranks feel the same - our weakest point is aim, and abilities don't mechanically feel awkward or clunky to use (strategic timing and effective use is another story)

Valorant abilities are either:
-smokes (easy)
-setups/lineups (easy with practice - no excuse for forgetting them in matches if you're being paid 5-6 figures)
-drones (easy)
-flashes/stuns (medium?)
-movement (medium?)

Like maybe some stuff with smokes and omen flashes are harder after the ping nerf, and some on-the-fly shockdarts require intuition and a feel for it, but all these other abilities including movement ones are so easy to get down just by fooling around in customs or even spike rush. Feels really weird when I see salaried pros consistently mess these up in matches for reasons that can't be just nerves by this point.

I'm more frustrated that C9 has had that high level of chemistry in the past with mediocre results, experienced markedly improved tournament performances under Rossy's allegedly unfun regime, and now has opted to regress again.

Of course PRX/EDG-level is ideal, but the choice that C9 faced here wasn't between a PRX-type team and a '24 NRG-type team, I think.

Like take SR this year. If they win grand finals, two million people in vlr are going to shit on flor for being trans and smurfing (ridiculous). If they lose, they shit on flor anyway for failing in GC-tier as a man (ridiculous) and also probably shit on the MIBR players. And regardless of outcome, not a single one of these players at GC champs is going to get trialed for VCT because the Tier 1 sphere wants to recycle the same players season after season (cishet male talent in tier 2 is already being overlooked because of this same reason)

Honest question, where should trans players compete if it were up to you? Trans-men in GC and trans-women in VCT? The reverse for those who've started hormone therapy?

I don't see a better solution right now than to lump everyone who's not a cishet man into GC, since many of the best GC players are denied trials by VCT and top-tier-2 teams anyway. And it only makes this imperfect situation worse when people keep bringing up ~research~ on reaction times - all of these players in GC, regardless of their identities, have grown up playing fps for years, they're a self-selecting group.

Fragmenting the scene into cishet mens league, then cishet womens, then etc. would be incredibly toxic and also ruin the entire point of GC, which is give exposure to all of these marginalized groups. Really frustrating to see all these hate threads of people who think all humans are just Man, Woman, or their murky world of "trans" where they lump every single marginalized identity.
