conservation of momentum: (no external forces)
m1vi1 + m2vi2 = m1vf1 + m2vf2
elastic collision: momentum and ke are conserved
inelastic collision: momentum conserved, ke isn't
perfectly inelastic collision: objects stick together after collision
center of mass:
x_cm = m1x1 + m2x2 / m1 + m2
