Aspas is still young (21) has been in esports for a relatively short amount of time, so it's very likely we havent even seen his peek yet
kfan4238173 [#5]at least he got for/four right 👏
is that really the bar we're talking about clearing😭😭😭
elysxxm [#6]We have definitely seen his peak we are seeing the stagnation right now, he might preform good this year but it will be his worst

nobody___100 [#2]american spelling holy fuck
I was watching Sideshow's stream earlier and someone in chat said the American education system teaches kids to read in a completely different way and it honestly sounds like the most retarded thing I've ever heard
Can you verify if this is true cuz shit's been rent free in my head since then?
LifeDiff [#11]na bro if hes in for another 5 years we definitely have not seen his peak
If he does hit another peak it won’t be on mibr or in Brazil at all most likely

What do you mean read in a different way
NerfMaxima [#9]Generally the younger the better. All the best players itw are young, while the older ones tend to not be. Aspas has likely peaked alr

Apparently you don't actually get taught to sound out and read words you haven't encountered before and instead just infer the meaning of them from the context of the rest of the sentence and move on without reading it
The source is a Sideshow twitch chatter so it may all be bullshit, please tell me it's bullshit
shrike- [#3]it’s actually crazy how some of the people we consider goats of the game (aspas, derke, chronicle, etc) are all in like their early 20s like these guys could play for another 10 years

It's definitely a mix of both. Americans are shit at trying to pronounce something phonetically, and it doesn't help that English just doesn't have consistent pronunciation compared to Spanish, for example

Yeah nah the American education system sounds like it came from a fictional dystopian novel some guy wrote in 1953 to denounce anti-intellectualism

This is a thing, it's called learning to read phonetically or not. I can confirm I was taught some phonetics in the US, but mostly, I just memorized the sound of words. Part of the problem is English, it's very hard to teach English phonetically with so many verbatim French/German/Latin/Greek influences. I was trying to learn Polish from a native speaker and really struggled to read a word phoenetically if I've never heard it. When I see a name or an unknown word, I don't even try to pronounce it. I memorize the shape, and check pronunciation later if I feel like it.
All that said, I can read just fine, and phonetics won't save you if you're dumb as bricks.
