Light novels are the real books with the awesome pictures. Web novels are the walls of text
(I think idk I haven't a clue about)

No, their difference is not in their quantity of pictures but the stage of publishing that work is at. Web novels are often closer to a "draft" product but you may still find pictures included although they will likely be a little lower quality than that of a light novel. Light novels are closer to a final product where a publisher and their team has reviewed the novel many times to try to find any errors or improve the wording, sometimes even changing/adding/removing parts of the story. They often also source an artist to draw the covers and the re/make the images in the novel.

LOTM or RI

some recommendation kindra forgot if they good i read a lot alr lol

wn: immortals wine store, tyranny of steel, journey of the fate destroying emperor, infinite mana in the apocalypse
korean: nano machine, descent of demon god(sequel of nm kinda mid ngl), reincarnated assassin is a genius swordsman
cn: legendary mechanic, hail the king, BTTH, Coiling dragon, Swallowed star, martial world, outside of time (search for chinese authors they create multiple light novels with shared unniverse)

try to look for other korean and chinese light novels.

I Shall Seal The Heavens would be a great start, and then uhhh, either of the two RI's: Reverend Insanity or Renegade Immortal

LOTM. Reverend Insanity (RI) is good, but besides being heavy (not necessarily a bad thing), the author didn’t finish the story.

My experience with Shadow Slave was... frustrating. Of course, maybe the issue was the difference between my personality and the MC's personality, but I’m not sure I’d recommend this novel.

By the way, here’s my top 5 web novels:

shadow slave cuz its easy to read, LOTM takes quite a while before it gets good and everything makes sense

I recommend starting with lotm then read some other xianxia (maybe I shall seal the heavens, battle through the heavens or any I eat tomatoes novel) then RI. RI is a satirical of other xianxia so it's cool to have that bit of previous knowledge while reading

Maybe he should start with some basic novels or even urban life or modern fantasy popcorn novels. Issth, lotm can be bit heavy and slow paced which may effect newcomers. Should try some simple and fast paced fun novels initially.
If he wants cultivation novels should try xuanhuan novels then xianxia and finally wuxia. Xuanhuan I think are very friendly to newcomers.

Shadow Slave highkey mid NGL

I liked LOTM, but Act 1, I think that’s how it is split up, starts a bit slow, but once you get passed that it’s pretty good
