Honestly, true. Valorant players would rather leave the game than try something out of their favourite agents even if the other agents are good. How many times has Raze been nerfed and how many times has Yoru been buffed. Yet, we are still stuck with Raze Jett because no one likes to try actual meta agents or actually experiment with shit, until the thing is a fucking God.

yeah I still see a lot of neons in ranked despite the nerfs and they perform quite well
phoenix gets played plenty in ranked
yoru takes too much thinking/learning for most people to use him, he's a niche agent

Literally harbor and viper in 2023 after the nerfs

Teams don't want to create new strategies that will be more optimal because of the time sink so they use unoptimized strategies because they have experience on them

most changes are for proplay. average val player dont care much about game changes. actually, a part of them dont like the game at all tbh

this might just be a problem that comes from VCT scheduling, teams don’t have enough tournaments and/or games to truly experiment and innovate on the game so a lot of the time they just play safe shit and try to polish it or just wait until tier 2 has polished a new meta comp

and since the ranked meta is usually formed by trickled down tech from pro valorant it kinda reflects it

tbh its harder to learn agent that you don't like, I remember one tricking sova and cypher, I did try like many times raze in tdm and swiftplay but I'm still pick either sova or cypher

then its just plainly wrong lol phantom didn't got pushed by "insane levels" by any means and is less used in ranked because vandal is objectively better there since you don't have to think much about strategical use of rifles

iso wasn't viable at all on pro play till he got buffed and it still is a bit of a troll pick, neon and phoenix were used as wildcards sometimes before buffs (2023 fracture and lotus on some teams and 2024 loud comps are examples), but jett and raze were (and still are) the superior duelists for coordinated teamplay in most maps

riot changes the meta to try to not make the game too repetitive but theres no way to downplay jett and raze because they're simply the best duelists by default
