From an Academy team… they were broke last year
Be serious pls
?? they literally predicted they will go even this year. you get to develop the best 16 year olds in the world. reduxx can improve. incentives from riot to field and academy roster and bringing viewership to tier 2. also rob moore doesn't care he's so passionate and has like 200 million dollars. he can handle sen going negative for the next 10 years.
from my understanding a lot of esports orgs operate in a deficit and are pretty much just passion projects for their stakeholders + owners.
a couple reasons an academy team could benefit sen imo: they can pay the players low salaries and demand high buyouts, more sponsorships and collaborations with other companies, more merch sales, and earnings from tier 2 tourneys/events
they also are winning hella tournaments and getting millions of bundle money, they have unlimited investor money, he calls one of his friends and they can sustain like 2 more years based of that. most orgs are going negative. fnatic are down 28 million dollars last year. trust me bro rob moore knows a lot more about business than you think.
They released their Halo roster a while ago, not sure if they're gonna field one in the future, so if they indeed leave that esport it would make sense to allocate what they used to spend on it to the academy roster that way it wouldn't make a difference in the finances. They weren't really winning anything in Halo anyway and they were not as popular so it's not a big loss. They've been leaving all the titles to focus on val.
