If mel can't give solid t2 results this year, then it's actually over I think. This is a pretty hard problem with the current state of t2, but she has the tools necessary.

They'll win this champs tho, so cool.

That said, gc is a dead league, and upcoming exceptional female players would be way better trying out for collegiate/academy teams.

There's like 30 different mel
Actually fun fact
There are 3 mels in today's match itself
One for SR one for mibr one in the observer seat
Do what you want with that information

Regardless of if they make it decently far in T2 after GC this time around, I do think that all the players have decently bright futures.

  • mel may continue to play the game at a pro level if she decides to, but if not she has a very good potential in casting and analysis that she has demonstrated for the main vct stream
  • i would not be suprised if flor becomes the first GC player to make it to the VCT, i genuinely think that any English speaking team thats in need of a duelist and doesnt want her is stupid, it kinda just sucks how the gc champs inteferes with alot of vct team trials (i think an issue thats worth talking about afterwards and when the tourney is over)
  • sarah, noia, and alexis are all still solid players and if rebellion for whatever reasons decides to pull out, there is surely another team waiting to yank them up easily

  • mel pivoting to analysis is most likely

  • flor is a shoe in for most challenger level teams, but it doesn't do anything for female representation, which is kinda what I'm addressing

  • sarah and noia are interesting, I think they could get into decent t2 teams if they try hard enough

  • alexis should retire

Im not transphobic, she's just not AFAB. I think its easy to understand what I mean, but I could go further.

unfortunately ash knuckles is right here. flor is a woman but she isnt female by technicality - i mean no hate and i say this as a trans person myself but neither of us r female even if we are women

they try to peak at gcc not t2 quals so that's probably part of the problem

no I'm pretty sure they try at t2 too, they're just not that good. I think they could much better than they are on two conditions

  • if they were more heavily "incentivised" too : they're slacking a lil, gc money makes them comfy

  • they split up: gc players are kinda special in the sense that they will show higher performances individually than as a team, so sarah noia and a couple other could probably get into tier2 teams.

im not saying they are not trying I'm saying the org wants them to peak at GCC so they will try to be better there

pretty sure it would be huge (profitable too) for the org if they broke into t2, they've dissolved their t2 team after all

Serious question, what Tier 2 results has mel given? Last I checked, they got dropped by a pick-up team in open quals. This year, they can't even play Challengers since the deadline is the same day as GC finals (today).

a couple decent placements at funhaver & nerdstreet in 2023, along with some good pug individual performances. This year has been ass tho.
