Bubblegun, Team NKT, and XERXIA have schedule conflict Predator League VCT OFF//SEASON Events and VCL 2024 SEA Split 3 - Stage 1

Xerxia and NKT announced they would forfeit SEA Split 3 and Bubblegun decided to forfeit Predator League. What a terrible decision by Riot after selling the entire region to Soop

We already knew when they mix sea into 1 league

The biggest difference I see that in CS regions die cuz they are not good enough, in val they die when riot neglects them

Did riot not realize that most CS player in sea has been switch to val, and they only care about korean and japan

I feel like CS organizers will gladly expand into SEA

RIOT doesn’t know how to handle esports.
They get carried by faker fanbase on league.

Valve goat esports company (0/34 events in cs next year are run by them)

Its more like they dont know how to handle esport with any other region besides korea europe and na.

They can handle japan tho, or rather off season in japan schedule wise looked better than SEA's.

Forfeiting riot sanctioned event for an off season event seems like a stupid decision tbh. But this is xerxia and nkt, so they probably think they can qualify to next year's split 1 without needing to qualify through split 3.

Regardless I don't think it's riot's fault tho, there's not really anywhere else to put split 3 in. If anything it's actually Thai predator league's fault for causing this schedule issues because japan finished their's almost 2 weeks earlier.

Yeah qualify through split 1 seems possible and it’s better to get more money for off season tournament

Say, is 3000 usd that worth it for xerxia/NKT to forfeit split 3? Just curious

They have a change to be able to get to the main event , u don’t need to play split 3 while u can still qualify with split 1

You can tho, for japan there's 4 spots for those who qualified from split 3, meanwhile the other 4 ( I assume split 1 will have 8 teams) will just be through qualifiers as usual

Sorry i kinda missed it, what's the point of split 3 again?

Give tier 2 players something to do instead of wasting org's money and time for doing basically nothing

Ticket to split 1 next year

Showcase new talent

And thats what happen when you announce schedule date 1 month in advance. Tournament organization are bad, and maybe T2 should be ruled by Riot and Faria.

This screams massive miscommunication between both riot and especially predator's part 😂

Riot doesn't organize SEA no ?i Rot did outsource T2 to tournament organization

do you know a source on this btw?

I tried looking into who had gotten the rights when it was announced and couldnt find any info on it at all and the liquipedia doesnt have any source again (and Riot is just listed per default for all challengers, even in all the other ones where they have a proper TO)

Oh really? Shit guess I've trusted liquidpedia too much because all I did is just open liquidpedia 😂. No I have no source on this

nah liquipedia might not be wrong
I was just curious if it was public knowledge by now and I had managed to miss it

If anything, no one knowing anything would make it more likely for Riot to be the TO (though that'd be weird imo, since Riot tried to be as hands off with t2 as possible)

didnt riot announce around when split 3 would start ages ago? cuz then thats not riots fault its the fault of the other tournament organisers

I didn’t see sea schedule until about 1 week ago I don’t sure if they announced so long before

Nup they literally released it last year. They release the calendar before every year

https://www.google.com/amp/s/beebom.com/valorant-champions-tour-2024-championship-points-calendar/amp/

Doesn't have the exact dates but cmon now anyone with a brain wouldn't put a tournament for t2 in October when it's been released over a year

I don’t sure why they put schedule at the same time but I think I know why NKT and XIA played to qualified split 3 because they didn’t think it will be at the same date

yes.

video from last year says starts at october

there was a timeframe given yes, which the actual schedule falls into
however an actual date was announced very late and the intial timeframe was overly broad (though everyone knew it was end of October, so Id believe TOs in SEA knew too)

that being said Riot approved of both tournaments, so its weird that they ignored the clear conflict in dates

It just looks messy, where both were already too far into their plans when they noticed the conflicts and just had to keep going imo

this is true as well ^
unfortunate situation overall.

Still think its TOs fault tho doesn't make sense for TOs to schedule a tournament without the greenlight of an actual date, esp when you're much smaller than the governing body of the espory

edit: wrong, read next response

nah they got a greenlight thats what makes this unusual
Riot has to approve all large tourneys in valo afaik

ill look if I can find the reference sheet, but based on the prizepool this got properly looked at before being approved too

#35

actually looks like im wrong
I thought it was 5k but (assuming SEA has the same guidelines as NA) https://developer.riotgames.com/policies/na-tournaments says its 10k

I should note that the link actually refers to LoL tournaments, however its the only public reference we have afaik, and has been cited in multiple critiques of our current t2 system (most prominent one being from the Americas Val. Players Association)

this tournament has an 8k prize pool so it wouldnt require approval
