NA VCT slots are weird

With all these NA t2 players getting signed in the emea VCT circuit it really makes a lot of sense and honestly explains how the NA slots are kinda skewed

For a language barrier comparison let’s compare the circuits

AMERICAS:
6 🇺🇸 located teams with 7 English speaking (with leviathan)
6 🇧🇷🇨🇱 located teams with 5 speaking Portuguese or Spanish

That’s 35 player slots for North American players to fit into with South America occupying the remaining 25.

EMEA:
10 🇬🇧 speaking teams (p sure m8 is switching to eng)
2 🇹🇷 speaking teams

Despite North America having an equal player base to Europe, the European scene shares 50 English speaking player slots compared to Americas’s 35.

PACIFIC:
A little uneducated here sorry if stuff is incorrect
4 🇰🇷 Speaking teams
1 🇮🇩 speaking team
1 🇹🇭 speaking team
2 🇯🇵 speaking teams
4 🇬🇧 speaking teams

With only 20 player slots for English speaking players in 2025 it explains the lack of imports as there are fewer slots to occupy

How come riot didn’t make a separate circuit for North America and South America I will never know but here we are. 35 spots is brutal (before 25), and I think there are so many more t2 NA players that deserve to play in T1

It is lol
But still unless I can't count either, it's 5 not 6
Could be that I can't count either ngl but I'm pretty sure I saw the wrong number and assume LEV is where you got it twisted

EG SEN 100T NRG C9 LEV are the English speaking americas teams in the original partnered circuit

Include g2 and you have 7 teams

game being released late in china kinda fucked over NA

i think if china could be in franchising earlier, regions would have been NA, SA, Asia, EMEA

this might be true, but honestly I think Riot still wanted a full region to be china, like in LoL. China is so big, they have so much money, and also China player base is the same as every other region combined im pretty sure. So NA was always gonna share a region probably

No way, Asia in this case would dwarf the other regions

uniting the entire americas as one continent when EMEA as a region (considering that all teams are from Europe and Turkey, if you don't consider Turkey europe) is smaller than South America alone (maybe even Brazil alone) is certainly a Choice

I could be wrong here but I believe EMEA has a very similar player base to Americas as a whole. Population doesn't really matter at all

Well, i was talking more on the geography side of things. I think ignoring it is the issue. But in any way, ignoring population also is a issue. Looking at the future, Valorant is growing more and more. Americas as a whole has more population, and therefore a higher celling of players and public. Eventually Europe will grow on a much more slower rate. They should've invested in developing the separate regions, but instead they chose to concentrate everything in one place. This is better in short-term, but worse at long-term.

I also don't think player base should matter that much to pro play when most of it is concentrated on low elo and basically the same amount goes to pro play independently of how much players it has

If we're going off of population EMEA has twice as many people because you would have to count Africa and the Middle East. It doesn't make sense, player base is what matters

The only argument I see is tier 2 teams can't scrimm to LA, but I don't think that is enough

Americas playerbase is larger and more talented than memea.

Yeah. This post was mostly highlighting NA as their t2 division is massive, but ultimately what the stats show is that South America has it even worse. in retrospect, they’re forced to learn English and relocate or fight for the 25 spots

yea makes sense....why use player base distribution when you can just use population am i right?

Because then it would develop the region and more people would come to play. And player base is irrelevant when only a small amount goes to pro play. The 1 million players from Iron to Diamond weren't going to make any difference in the high level

If you consider that NA also has one of the most condensed T2 scenes that consolidates all of the top talents into 3-4 teams, it makes it really easy to see which players were always meant to be T1 but didn’t have the opportunity. Contrast this with EMEA or APAC who have numerous smaller leagues that dilute talent and you can see why these T2 NA players are more desirable.

Importing these players is essentially pulling from another pool of T1 talent that is hungrier and more reliable.
