Can someone help with my motivation?

I'm currently a junior in highschool and I just have no motivation to do any of the assignment and I'm procrastinating so hard that I'm doing assignment the period before it's due. On top of all my extra curriculers, idk what to do man.

  1. why are you posting in a val forum lol
  2. compartmentalize your work, like make a google cal or something for each ec and put deadlines/dates for hw and exams and whatever else you may have in there (that you know of ofc)
  3. take a breath, youre a junior and if you decide college is for you dont overstress about your grades and certainly not about ACT/SAT (in us) just make sure they're not C's or below. and if college isnt your thing then just make sure you can at least graduate hs bc getting a ged might not be the move later and might be harder/inconvenient
  4. what are your hobbies, maybe drop an extracurricular youre not passionate about in favor of a new hobby or developing a hobby more. and if your hobby is val then lowkey spend less time on it and more on a physical hobby bc high chances its not the best at giving serotonin or motivation
  5. just enjoy life, junior/senior year is gonna be the best years of hs then (if you dont work right away) youll have 4+ more years of college to enjoy without the stress of work and making friends.

Man, I was there. The best thing you can do is keep on top of it as you get it but I get that work can pile up. I would first break it down into chunks, organise your backlog with priority and difficulty, try and start, and only start the hard/important projects first, you'll find once you've started it, it gets way easier to keep on going, imo the hardest part is starting, I've found 80% of the battle to getting work done is just starting. Say it doesn't work for you, move on to an easier task, hopefully you can try starting that instead, but only leave that as a last resort.

I think maybe a motivator is that IMO, not finishing high school you'll have way more trouble finding work in the future unless you work extra hard. Plus, I think if you plan on going to college it's more enjoyable and you get to network with a bunch of folks. Maybe finishing to major in something you actually enjoy or are interested in will spark you finishing HS.

I met a ton of people who didn't finish school and more of them struggle than are successful. so i'd say finish that off at least then see what you wanna do after.

i'm in the same shit as you
some advice i have

  • organize shit. every test you have, project, assignment, deadlines for clubs/competitions, things you have to do for clubs, etc.
  • write a timetable for every few days based on the last bullet, modify it as you go along but make sure to read it at least 3 times a day, once in morning, once in afternoon, once at night perhaps
  • another strat is to take some reset time, like a couple days off, get through all of your piled up work, and then get ahead. do this also every long weekend/week off
  • force yourself to do things that you enjoy only when you finish the classwork - for example, if you like playing val, uninstall val until you catch up to everything.
  • (if its an option) if your extracurriculars are too much, cut one. if you think the extracurricular is important for your apps or whatever, then remove a useless class.

Honestly, the hardest part is implementing a routine. Once it has started, it’ll be hard to break. I suffered from procrastination too (still do tbh), but I started going to the library more and hiding my phone deep in my bag.
