BRAZIL TWITTER TRUTH

To anyone that isnt from the country of brazil, here is a summary.

BR Supreme court Judge ordered certain accounts banned on twitter, Elon said no, Beef escalated to Twitter closing its offices in our country and the Judge attempting to block the entire country's access to the website.

If you give a shit, please do your own research, if you dont, dont listen to the other folks on this app;
This subject is highly controversial in our country to the point where you will receive some VERY biased descriptions from the common BR user.
This is also a very recent subject so there will be misinformation involved.

TLDR: If you aint from Brazil and you dont care about the subject, ignore the comments about it, users are very heated right now and WILL say dumb shit

What are you talking about? First of all, I'm thanking him for warning us about misinformation online. Second of all, I'm an immigrant to Canada so idk WHAT you're trying to accomplish by saying "you are USA dogs." And third of all, who the hell brought up fascism??

Why is there controversy though? I'd think everyone would hate the government for their decision of banning a social media.

Or is it a thing of some people blaming Elon/Twitter and others blaming Brazilian government for the escalation of the problem?

The Controversy relies on both sides being too sketchy to trust (Elon and Judge)

Each side of the discussion believes themselves to be the good guy fighting for the greater good

The Judge claims to be combating misinformation
The Counterclaim is that he is silencing political opposition (Politicians, Journalists, Influencers and others critical to the current president)

Elon Musk claims to be protecting Freedom of Speech
The Counterclaim is that he is protecting dangerous people with dangerous ideologies (Nazism, racism etc)

The

I just said the motives the Judge want to ban those accounts. I didn't make a personal value judgment

Nice 'Poisoning the well' falacy, btw

Look, you only exposed what the judge claims to be doing not the counterclaim.

To any outsider, your comment makes the judge seem like a hero without explaining why there is people who see him as a villain

It's the same as if I commented "Elon musk was fighting censorship and got banned", I'm making the reader prone to agree with my side by not exposing the counterclaim.

This is why your comment is biased, I made sure to make my og post show both perspectives so if someone wants to choose a side they can. Your comment guiltrips people into agreeing with you

"BR Supreme court Judge ordered certain accounts banned on twitter" seems kinda shady from you, to be honest.
The way you told the whole shitshow made the BR SC look like he wanted to ban just because.

Both of you guys were biased.

I didn't say what type of accounts were petitioned to be banned exactly because the list isn't public.

The Judge claims one thing
Elon claims another

There is no public objective confirmation that the accounts were nazi types, only the claims of the judge

interestingly Elon did block opposition Twitter posts during the Turkish election.

So twitter being the "bastion of free speech" is not really true.

See? Can't trust either side fully
The very possible reality is the both counterclaims are true, which at the end means neither are helping anyone

I really don't know enough about the situation to make a definitive comment.

However misinformation is rampant on twitter and needs to be crack down upon. Misinformation is doing alot of harm in the UK and has caused violence.

There is also the possibility of governments trying to censor opposition by suppressing means of communication.

I'm concerned of the precedent set by the government tbh , this can be easily used as an excuse to censor anything, they can suspend twitter now, and they can censor something bigger in the future

They have been doing this since 2019 when they censored one article from the "Revista Crusoé".
