IonlywatchvcjXD [#6]Guess we're having GE academy now
My thought is that most teams will. Specially small teams will have a better chance at trialing talent before taking them up. Win win
Denjisideals [#9]My thought is that most teams will. Specially small teams will have a better chance at trialing talent before taking them up. Win win
Not really, I think small teams had little bargaining power over big teams. Unless small teams are willing to pay higher wages than maybe they can compete, but at that point would you call them small teams anymore?😂. So nothing changes.
One of my concerns with T1 academy teams now playing in T2 is that it actually made the scene way more unfair for T2 orgs, especially Japan, orgs like CGZ and Igzist couldn't even qualify to sp2 and small orgs will be facing the same problem but bigger. So adding ZETA academy and DFM academy(yes they announced building one prior to the announcement, perhaps they knew beforehand 😂) into the scene actually impedes competition.
Radnam24 [#8]More important than 2 rosters is a coaching staff with functioning brain that can actually manage 2 rosters
Rushindra worded them poorly, what he meant is that GE will now form GE Academy ( which will play in VCL South Asia) and GE franchising. So expect 2 different coaches for both rosters
guuz [#14]Do they have the money to do this well? I don't know too much about GE but I hope this doesn't end up as diluted mid across two rosters... Hoping the best for the all-indian squad

He is probably going to pay peanuts and hence no well-established Indian pro will play for them.
I think his academy is going to be bunch of T3 kids who still dream to make it big ; selected through some sort of tryout handled by usual suspects like Nethenoob and Hellranger
Expected ngl after the expansion of the "south asia" VCL.
Although I thought it would just be the announcement of the academy roster that they said they were building ages ago. (no clue if they actually did that or not)
That rumoured Orangutan roster will probably still be a more exciting VCL India project, unless GE can get a few of the players.
bruhmphrey [#18]GE tried this when franchising started, i swear
nope at the start first they tried to get investment from Bleed in return of some favors and then tried to do the same with Soul but Riot didn't allow those things since they amounted it to sort of selling the franchise spot for some reason

Actually GE has to look at T2 orgs as well. Because every VCL SA teams already paid a standard wage ( I have to assume), it's not ideal for GE to pay lower, so they had to pay at least as much as T2 teams do. So GE might not be paying peanuts (probably)

Why do people hate on nethe so much he seems like an half decent talent scout

There is no standard in India brother. Indian pros are paid highest salary only behind NA and some big JP orgs
To give you an example of internal disparity RGE's whole Valo team operation cost=Skrossi's personal salary at RVNT.
India's best core is paid around 2.5k USD per month per player

I don't hate him he is a good scout and definitely finds some hidden gems but he yaps unnecessarily abt things he has no idea and keeps pulling down Indian T2 for trivial reasons

Wtf lol, guess GE is gonna have a field day forming an academy team😂

wait what expansion? as in popularity or are they letting more teams participate?
Aayan [#28]wait what expansion? as in popularity or are they letting more teams participate?
Technically more teams although the majority of the "expansion" has to do with the format, how they handle qualifiers and retention of spots.
There will be multiple different stages: Open qualifiers, Prelim groups and then the actual group stages.
