This year's Champs has been the most underwhelming and overwhelming Champs oat.
SEN coming back to form dominating
GEN.G winning everything and then getting grouped
TH dominating and getting revenge on GEN.G
PRX grouped like wow

but then theres teams like
TE having a lucky group dominating a shaky VIT and destroying LEV and then losing to EDG for the 120958th time
FNC just being mid. if they had a different group they lose 100%
G2 looking nowhere near their Stage 2 form.
LEV consistently throwing
DRX winning groups and then losing playoffs
FPX had hard group another time

idk half of these teams have cool storylines and upsets but then theres teams that just do nothing and look mediocre.

Another hot take
1) this is incredibly disrespectful to the sport, to the viewers, to the opponents and to the tournament organisers and should not be allowed by RIOT in the first place to jump off like that to deny a round.
Maybe it is actually not allowed and if thats the case, G2 should be fined.
But if this is actually allowed or wasnt predicted by RIOT in the first place, thats on RIOT.
I spoke about this potential problem out loud on day 1 of Abyss release.

2) i understand that this negates LEV of getting 1000 creds and 5 orbs for killing the G2 players
BUT i think this is literally trolling/throwing a round by G2. In VALORANT every round is winnable, every round is doable and you just robbed your team off that chance.
Not only that, LEV didnt have to use a single utility piece to win this round which saves shitton of cash, and didnt have to rebuy any shields.
If you wanted to troll this round, G2, at least do it properly and jump off after your opponents planted, so you would waste more time and make them use util.

well DRX with 3 debutants making it out of that group itself is pretty good thing already for them tbh

i think g2 wil bounce back tomorrow, their (and fncs) abyss comp got exposed & their biggest issue is being unable to close out rounds, icebox was EXTREMELY winnable

tbh i was invested but it kinda took me out when geng got grouped because the narrative was so hype
so many teams coulda got revenge or won against them in gfs in a crazy way
instead they just burnt out and played like crap. which is no flame to them it happens but like its mad boring

I mean I think part of the allure of this champs is that the talent is so stacked. Last few years, people knew what to expect, such as last year most people assumed it would be 2 of PRX/FNC/LOUD/EG being grand finalists but this year almost every team (sorry Trace) that made playoffs can win the whole thing, and absolutely nothing is a given right now.
