The all time best team in valo dethroning fnatic
Fnatic 2021-2022 subpar results with gambit and fpx pioneering
Fnatic 2023 prime: 1st, 1st, 2nd, 4th
GenG 2024: 2nd, 1st, 1st and could very well be first or likely top 2 at least.
shrike- [#2]brother if they even make grand finals they’ve already done more than enough to be the best team in history
More than enough is an exaggeration.
geospliced [#3]More than enough is an exaggeration.
The only argument fnatic would have would be that they historically only lost to 1 team domestically and 1 team internationally, meanwhile geng’s record is not as strong
geospliced [#3]More than enough is an exaggeration.
???? their lowest placement for any event in the season would be 2nd
if they get bounced in 4th then that’s still better than fnatic’s year because theyve shown out at more events
NioMS [#8]Easily
Need that FNC v GEN.G grand finals so i can see my boys defending their throne
Naaaah that would be too peak
laeDLaer [#5]They’re not as good as FNATIC were last year. Not even close
if they win champs therefore they have attend every inter Lan finals in 1 year and win 2 in a row and it’s champions , are you dumb
geospliced [#3]More than enough is an exaggeration.
no. its is more than enough. IF GenG makes grands, then they are the only team in the history of valorant franchising to make every grand final possible. even Fnatic fell of in champs and only made 4th. you could argue that FNC was only ever beaten by loud but a loss is a loss. loud was then beaten by PRX/ EG(idk which) so its a fair assumption to make that they would have lost to the 3 best teams in the event. whereas GenG have beat every team in the world AND made it to grands.
laeDLaer [#5]They’re not as good as FNATIC were last year. Not even close
FNC was ahead last year when all the teams other than EG and PRX and loud were shit. GenG have made it in a year where the competitive scene has become much closer and teams like TH, LEV, G2, PRX are much better than what they were in 2023. the meta in 2024 is very different compared to what It was in 2023 with an OP skye. FNC are still the most dominant team to play the game but GenG(if they make grand or place 3rd) are the best team to play the game.

Oh no I'm not disagreeing with the statement that GenG is the best team in history. I think they've done enough to prove that. I personally just don't believe they've done more. IF they make a top 4 finish I'm down to concur that they have done more than enough.
shrike- [#7]???? their lowest placement for any event in the season would be 2nd

Well yeah I think GenG has had the best year in comparison to everyone else.
shrike- [#2]brother if they even make grand finals they’ve already done more than enough to be the best team in history
Question is if hypothetically they and SEN make GFs and SEN wins would that make SEN the best team in the world for having 3 titles total and 2 in the same year (1 being champions) or would that make Gen G the best team because they were top 2 minimum every event?

that was quite literally my entire argument brother
LilUziSkrr [#13]FNC era wasn't that great as people here pretend it to be.
Fnatic rarely went under 6 rounds lost per map tf you mean
NioMS [#8]Easily

fnc wins against drx? what you think?
shrike- [#18]that was quite literally my entire argument brother
"brother if they even make grand finals they’ve already done more than enough to be the best team in history"
Maybe my English is just bad but to me it sounds like you're saying that they've already done "more than enough" to be the best team in history.

the wording is a bit off but I think you got to look more at the context than the specific words. i think he meant if they make grand then they have done enough. but instead of enough, he said already.
BulkyLettuce [#23]aged poorly
Even tho I think geng ain't winning Champs
But still champs ain't over buddy

I saw the wording was somewhat weird so I read it like "brother even if they made grand finals...already..." but you're right as well.
shrike- [#2]brother if they even make grand finals they’ve already done more than enough to be the best team in history
While FNC would be the only team in val history to win 2 event the same year 1/1/4 seems same than 2/1/2, how you make the threshold ?
I think they are no doubt that 1/1/3 > 1/2/2 (i don't know how you could argue against that) but are you really that 1/1/4 < 1/2/2, ir is it because it's champs ?
TeoEmil [#19]Fnatic rarely went under 6 rounds lost per map tf you mean
The most coherent argument is that the overall level of competition was shit compared to this year.
They looked not nearly as good once the rest of the field remembered how to play the game.
I think their dominance at the time was unmatched, but I agree that it feels like you need to look at that dominance with a big asterisk now.
jvre [#17]Question is if hypothetically they and SEN make GFs and SEN wins would that make SEN the best team in the world for having 3 titles total and 2 in the same year (1 being champions) or would that make Gen G the best team because they were top 2 minimum every event?
This is not currently possible.

completely different squads, doesn't even hold up at all. Fnatic has had the same core forever

its cause Lock in was not a masters so i would say that 2nd in masters = lock/in(if you look at the importance of the tournament)

Only idiots say lockin was not a masters. It was a big international tourney with all the big names present. Just had a different title doesn't make it less important
kapteN [#33]Only idiots say lockin was not a masters. It was a big international tourney with all the big names present. Just had a different title doesn't make it less important
lockin was single elim bro. it did not give any championship points and didnt affect anything AT ALL. lockin was just for show and for riot to show all the franchising teams. there was no other reason for the tournament to exist. only braindead people who dont know shit about VCT think lock/in = masters

Does that mean the equivalent of master in LoL is more important than the equivalent of Championship ? Just because master is in doble elim and Champions is simple elim ?
geospliced [#16]Well yeah I think GenG has had the best year in comparison to everyone else.
No lmao
Ppl just biased against fnatic cuz it is eu
Unless geng make top 3, fnatic had a better year - no argument
If geng make top 2, geng had a better year - no argument
If geng get 3rd - most debatable thing ever

schizophrenia, shrike- said if they make grand finals which is top 2

uhh no. mb i didnt clarify. what i meant was that Lock/in was just a way for riot to showcase the teams and cant be counted as a real tournament. it was just an official riot tournament so it holds more value than afreeca TV or Red bull home ground but not as much as masters.
the masters in LOL are actually a masters tournament and so it matters.

It's an international event with a format close from the kickoff, every year have 2 masters, it really sounds a master to me

bro that year there was only 1 masters. as for the format ur right. its like KICKOFF, not MASTERS and therein lies the difference. lockin has more value than kickoff but not as much as a masters. if you still disagree then we can agree to disagree

Kickoff was called master, but I rather have another name for tfirst master of year so we avoid quiproquo
