just like they dominant OW, same pattern
p0tsuz [#4]FPS is different from Moba btw , its their first time being something since 2021 (even tho prime v1/drx was scary)
*VS. V1 is NA org
stop using overwatch as a comparison to valorant, the game is WAY closer to Counter Strike, and in CS asian servers in general were never that good, especially cause of the backlash for the game being "violent" and stuff, but they do have great strats in valorant, but i doubt the entire region will be as dominant as it is in mobas

the koreans already started dominating this game you just dont accept it, pacific top 2 end up top 3 in this tournament, and pacific top 4 teams 3 are korean
wait till they add more korean teams to pacific franchise or when the pacific teams start recruiting more koreans...

Koreans may very well dominate Pacific but they won't do it globally. This game has never seen the type of peak in popularity in Korea that it has in Overwatch, LoL and brood war in the past. That's what allows/allowed Koreans to dominate everyone else in those titles. That doesn't mean they can't do well or even win an international title, like GenG has a good chance of doing tomorrow, but they're never gonna absolutely dominate everyone else. That's just not realistic unless Valorant becomes drastically more popular in Korea and can pull upcoming talent/youth from those other titles.

You're more or less proving my point. 10% play rate. At its' height, Overwatch surpassed LoL with over 40% play rate. Valorant would have to hit that level of popularity for a sustained period of time for what you're saying to be possible.

bro imagine in league, korean talent divided by 4
thats your valorant korean talent pool, more than enough to dominate

No, it's really not.

bro you can just as easily compare valorant to overwatch as to cs, literally neither side can win this argument
Costofequity [#18]so you cant math, got it
Lol. My math is just fine. You're acting as if we've been far off these numbers for a long time. I might be recalling incorrectly but wasn't the PC bang rate at 5-6% like 18 months ago. So why hasn't Korea been dominating?
Also, you're being way too simplistic with that math. 1/4th as much popularity doesn't just automatically equal 1/4th as much promising pro talent (Not that they would actually be able to dominate with that number). When you have such a high play rate for LoL, the most promising talent is gonna flood LoL at a dis-proportionally higher rate. You can't just compare % play rate 1 to 1. Real life doesn't work like that.

are you turning off your brain when you argue with me
u just answered your own question, the reason why korea hasnt been dominating is because less people were playing
it was like 1% 1 year ago
and also, that is exactly how real life stats work, its called sampling and prorating

i remember seeing the internet cafe rating around 2018? 2017? when Korea was slapping everyone, overwatch was at like 20%. So yea I think you are more likely to be right

i think they still need a bit more increase in the rate if we are comparing the rate to OW. Its nice to see other regions grow tho that's for sure

You're the one turning off your brain. Even with an ~80% increase in talent/player pool, you're not gonna go from a region where only a single team(now 2) managed to do anything ever internationally(with a best placement of 3rd in DRX, 2nd in GenG now) to a region that can systematically dominate EVERY SINGLE OTHER REGION.
You're the one clearly not using your brain if you think that's how it's truly gonna go. Keep watching Valorant. You'll wake from that delusion sooner or later.

I been watching val since beta and things are going exactly how I predicted it lol
also you just said 80% increase, you clearly dont math
and I love because you lost the stats argument, you gotta resort back to generic top 3 placement historically! like as if I didnt just tell you valorant was at 1% 1 year ago lol
dw, everything you said is nothing new and has been said by ow fans in the past, you choose what you believe just dont call me delusional when you cant see through your own bias

Wtf are you talking about? Valorant WAS NOT at a 1% PC bang play rate a year ago. Holy shit. You didn't win the stat arguments. The assertions you're making given what we've seen in the stats is absolutely absurd. If Korea is such a surging region, why didn't their representative in Ascension last year even making it out of group stage?
You keep referencing Overwatch but the circumstances surrounding this game ARE NOT the same. I have no doubt that Korea will manage to be more prominent on the global stage in the coming years but there is 0% chance you see the domination we've seen in LoL where they're taking champions year on year for long periods of time.
I'm clearly not the biased one to any reasonable person reading this discussion.

Please stop acting like a child. You've said and continue saying nothing of substance or logic that would lead a reasonable person to believe your assertion. I'm clearly not the one who lost this argument.
edit: also fyi, capitalizing things for the sake of emphasizing points does not mean i'm heated. It's also very funny you chose not to actually address anything but respond with a nothing-burger

They really didn't take over in LoL, Korea still owns them most of the time.

maybe its not bcs of cs a violent game and all, most likely bcs CS relies alot in its own community to grow the scene while asian cs community itself considered to be small and lacks of attention from investor back then which result on the lack of tournament (esp on grassroots).
GKeepItReal [#37]They really didn't take over in LoL, Korea still owns them most of the time.
i mean they are still miles ahead of the rest lol, and at least they put up a decent fight against most korean teams

yes, but the violent part is in a way a correct way to put it, lan house and cafes are very popular in korea and one of the reasons LOL grew so much, these places are known for not allowing CS because of terms like "terrorists", "bombs" and real weapon names, thats why valorant changed all of this language for weird stuff like "spyke"
