the winner gets their region an extra slot for masters right? wouldnt there be 13 teams which messes up the format?
It would be 10 team (TOP 3 EMEA + TOP 3 PACIFIC + TOP 3 AMERICAS + 4TH PLACE INTL LEAGUE FROM REGION WHO WON KICK OFF BRAZIL) in masters 2023
SuzyVLR [#5]It would be 10 team (TOP 3 EMEA + TOP 3 PACIFIC + TOP 3 AMERICAS + 4TH PLACE INTL LEAGUE FROM REGION WHO WON KICK OFF BRAZIL) in masters 2023
nice

10 team masters, especially after a 30 team tournament is a major L from rito. Hope they reconsider and make it 5 from each region and winner gets an extra slot so 5+5+5+1 = 16 teams
3 regions, divide those slots amongs them.
To make a good tournament bracket you need 8, 10, 12 or 16 teams.
If they get 3 top teams from all the 3 regions, that makes 9 teams + the extra slot.
It wont work out with 11+1 = 12 teams since 11 cannot be divided by 3.
It will work with the 15+1 = 16 teams format as then there will be 5 teams from all the regions.
So masters will either be 10 teams or 16 teams if Riot follows this math.

Masters will likely be 10 and champions will be 16

It literally says it in the name - "kickoff".
They just want to start off the premiere with a bang and showcase all the 30 teams on an international stage.
But seeing how ass some franchise teams are looking they definitely should not make it to every international tournament else there would be no incentive to play and be better.
JiangLi [#9]Masters will likely be 10 and champions will be 16
champs will be 12 - 9 circuit + 3 lcq as the 1 bonus slot is for masters only
capital_d_colon [#4]It depends how many teams go
If top 5 go then
5+5+5+1 = 16 which is nice for a playoff bracket
If it's 3+3+3+1 = 10 it can be split into groups of 5
5 is way too much in a 10 team league, that's mid table teams making it to an international event. That's not competitive

IMO 5 teams is perfect, looking at EMEA for example top 5 would probably be NaVi Fnatic Liquid KOI Giants. Thats all your top teams, and still one or 2 underdogs who can make a run if the stars align

If all the decent teams make it, and no one gets rejected, there is no fun. There is no competition without heartbreaks and failures.
If Riot could, they could just ask all VCT teams to come to Berlin and play tournaments there, that is not how it works.
jimjam789 [#13]probably china for that 1 extra to make 16 teams
nope , china will not have a path to champs and champs will have 12 slots with 9 being circuit and 3 lcq
