ik you’re baiting but I’m taking it in on just how many complaints we’ve seen this year so far and it’s actually crazy. This esport’s growth could be knee capped if 2025 stays the same
EG was goated but they wouldn’t save this year at all, they would probably just win a lot and be done with it
Feels like that type of year in other sports where barely anyone will easily recall in the next few years. All of the complaints and issues from the retake meta itself to the map pool to the event production to the narratives to the other shit, this entire year just feels like a waste of time.
2022 and 2023 spoiled us maybe, hopefully next year will be more exciting overall with a lot less complaints and issues. It’s genuinely just sad to see this esport feel so dull throughout the entire year with all the negativity flowing around.
I can argue that the implementation of Deadlock entirely is part of the overcooking JohnQT likes to do, paired with the rest of the coaching of course, it’s a bigger problem than what you’re making it out to be really.
I agree with the individual consistency though
He doesn’t trust his own team enough so he resorts in making a bunch of very weird calls trying to outsmart everyone in the lobby. When it works he looks great, but when it doesn’t then his team looks like headless chickens even when they’re hot. He’s the main reason why SEN keep having insanely low dips, he doesn’t trust his own team to make more simple calls.
Big contrast to EG Boostio who for most of his igling was making very simple site hits/retakes because he trusts his own team chemistry to come out on top more often than not. Both of their calling is literally night and day. If 2023 EG had JohnQT as their igl, they would’ve never ever looked as consistent as they did.
Even though he’s a good enough caller to give SEN the year they had, he’s also their main issue that’s holding them back. His biggest strength is his by far his fragging and even then that’s also coinflip. SEN should try to look for a replacement if I’m gonna be honest.

Biggest tourney of the year and he kinda ends up choking vs TH which is just a no go. If he didn’t suddenly hit his windows key (definitely got way too nervous there, idk if this has ever happened before) on Icebox then SEN would’ve had a way higher chance to win that round and probably even the series since the scoreline was 8-11
If zekken didn’t choke his knives vs woot then the momentum would’ve definitely swung towards SEN for a good bit as they’re a very momentum based team
the kid is not a finisher and can’t be “the guy” to close out a series in that kinda match. The best in the world won’t make mistakes like these in those kinda moments, which is why someone like Demon1 and Jawgemo back in the champs final were unphased by the pressure of winning the C in VCT
hopefully this kills off the goofy “one of the best itw” debates. Two quiet maps in a Bo3 and then a last second choke in the third one.

Final map of the VCT year and he goes 1/10 in the first half and then 3/8 in the next, really just letting his entire team and fans down. I think he probably bawled his eyes out the second he got to the backstage and personally if I’m zekken after that final map I would just ignore him. Spent all his energy trying to sell merchandise and shaking his ass and he manages to drag his entire team down with him back to being mediocre.
