like 9/12 of the teams also have active academy lineups that can be promoted or sold at any time. shit is gonna get crazy as more young players turn of-age to participate in vct

how strong are korea and china looking this year?

posted 7 months ago

i kinda knew both of them were on the way out from what i've seen in terms of discussion, but it's better to get good confirmation. does this basically guarantee that Curlyhair and Leav3u are the talents going forward?

posted 7 months ago

the problem is deeper than the roles and i'm pretty sure they alr know that. would be more practical to let Jieni simmer first if they're gonna keep the core 4 anyways in their eyes unless zjc does something crazy behind the scenes

posted 7 months ago

depends on how much EDG's management want to die on the previously massive hill they made after Bangkok (they will)

posted 7 months ago

outside of getting rid of/supporting Muggle ofc. ig Jieni's expendable but he didn't even compete for a full season as an academy promotion + promoting a new guy or poaching might be risky. same thing applies to literally everyone else on the active roster but way more extreme in the risk

posted 7 months ago

they need to do what they find comfortable. Muggle's been bipolar with tinkering comps that are comfy for the players and then hyper fixating on meta-conforming shit when it doesn't give immediate results. why has Jieni flip-flopped 3 different roles that all do substantially different shit alongside wildly different comp theories

i'm convinced they were cooking with the iso-neon-sova shit but didn't let it get room to breathe and get more streamlined

CCG weren't looking that strong at all at any point this year. I haven't seen Any Questions at all but from what I can tell the general sentiment is that they're meh. Maybe they'll surprise but RA and Zhu Chao Gaming are the ones I'm eyeing the most

posted 7 months ago

with how well oiled DRG were pre-champs it's easy to say that they'll win their slot back. all depends on how streamlined the top chinese tier 2 teams are. they've improved significantly so they'll face hella resistance (probably) but DRG should probably win

Vookashu not being here fundamentally changed the way they play. Demon1's good on his own but the shit they were pulling with Vookashu in the server was diabolically good

posted 7 months ago

This is less about the teams in champs and more about the rest of the region in general. I don't really like Muggle but he himself isn't the only problem on EDG. XLG and DRG's success is directly because they didn't wanna be complacent, which is good because it's what the promotion system should incentivize. They've directly set an example that (in my opinion) the under performing teams in the region should follow when it comes to organizational structure

posted 7 months ago

I understand that they wanna give some more respect to the region, but shit is NOT linear when it comes to improvement. Champs was just the culmination of all the awkward stuff that's happened this year domestically. It makes sense that the ascension teams were some of the only ones to actually take chances to keep their place in the league.

posted 7 months ago

the region's in a new era, but not only one where EDG's not the top dog anymore
The old guard are truly just not enough anymore both in terms of coaching and players, and the only orgs to really recognize this during this year were Tyloo and AG. When a team like Tyloo (with a player-coach) and AG (went through 3 head coaches in a couple of months) realize their structural issues before everyone else AND outpace the entirety of teams with "better" cores then something needs to be discussed within the rest of CN's collective management staff. When two teams go from bottom-three in the entire league to actually looking serviceable while everyone else stays the same, and TWO of China's champs representatives also either went through active mid-season coaching changes (DRG) or outright trusted lesser-known infrastructural pieces from the get-go (XLG) then maybe there's an example that needs to be followed going into next year.

posted 7 months ago

yeah my hopes weren't really high outside of BLG. it's crazy how ppl outside the region's audience are trying to spin a narrative that cn is still anything other than an underdog with how chaotic the org management still kinda is

posted 7 months ago

Tyloo's an active work in progress so I don't blame them for just being under prepared in stage 2. if they stick with sword9 as a coach next season now that splash is finally of-age then they have real potential to show up to an international. AG's new guys are a weird one considering they're all literally 18/19 so it all depends on how comfortable they get at the tier 1 level. I have confidence that at least one of these two teams make champs next year though

posted 7 months ago

there's good coaching talent in China it's just that orgs for some reason are fascinated with the old guard of coaches from the literal CAVEMAN DAYS of the region. AG promoted people that were relatively unknown and they saw more improvement in THREE WEEKS than half of the league did the entire season

posted 7 months ago

nah anyone who's watched the region honestly expected some sort of disappointment this champs. BLG's the only real wower in all of this idk how they crumbled so easily. systemic improvements are a gradual process, and the only teams that really improved their coaching structure mid-season were All Gamers and Tyloo. everyone else was hoping that better players would save their season. if teams build from the ground up with their coaching staff next season and just cut the player fat then we'd see some noticeable improvements

Muggle & DestroyeR πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

posted 7 months ago

XLG won against SEN and DRG is not only missing their arguably best player but can't communicate with Demon1 efficiently if not at all for 95% of their games
we ARE gonna see major rebuilds and flushing of terrible players this next season though so EVERYONE can look forward to that
