1. Ai can change our daily lives as much for worse and it does for good. The unknown factor makes people skeptical and paranoid about how exactly it's going to go (especially with how most people feel about the big tech corpo's that run the industry) and that leads us to
2. The Ai tech industry is VERY MUCH a gigantic economic bubble that can pop if something goes wrong. We haven't seen it because Ai is very much in its beginning stages, but if something happens in the future (that we don't know yet) that can damage or completely sweep the rug on ai research or investment it's very cooked not only for the field but also every other industry, company, and investor that's mildly adjacent to it

Ai just impacts a lot of shit that's in ppl's lives so ofc it's going to be a hotly contended thing
