This is an interesting format for a Group Stage. Only 1 team advances from each 4 team group, and I think ties are broken by round differential (maybe head-to-head, but in that case I don't think the bracket would include Rd Diff). I guess it's a good way to keep the playoffs more succinct, especially if 64 teams want to participate. I predict several of the 1-seeds will get fluked in groups, such as TSM.

they need to add a CSGO Dreamhack-esque circuit. but make it mainly regional. hold 100k or 250k tournaments, in the Americas and in EMEA. invite the best regional teams, have one or two qualifier spots, and occasionally invite teams from other regions. that way you can have 8 team events, 12 team events, etc.

VCT events should always be 16 minimum, maybe 24 like CSGO majors.

pro players don’t typically live off their winnings, they live off their contracts. so “chasing money” is smart and every self respecting person should do it. “betting on yourself” in a young, relatively-flukey esport is not some “sigma move” lmfaooo

Yeah FaZe could easily qualify too. Those last spots are up for grabs, Knights could easily make it in again too. Maybe GenG, Darkzero, etc. But I definitely do not see TSM making it in.

so i’d say there are 7 spots open for a 12-team group stage. BUT, who else can realistically qualify? Akrew, Ghost, TSM, SQ, GenG, FaZe all had major roster changes. Teams like Complexity, T1, and NYFU are constant in Tier 2 and could maybe qualify.

the hierarchy from 2021 and even 2022 stage 1 is gone, it’ll be new (and exciting, ig). i personally expect Nearest Airport to make it to the group stage from qualifiers, other than that idrc.
