Since people seem pretty dead set on leaks being more hype

What about it is more hype than not having leaks and instead giving rosters the opportunity to make content around their new pickups?
We know from g2 (pre move to NA) that according to them orgs cant spend money on big and hype reveals since the chance it gets leaked then its just a waste

What makes the random twitter post more exciting than this content in your opinion?

posted 5 months ago

Yea really not a fan of this move, would have much rather them build around russ/benkai + LF/blazek1ng
Rebuilding from scratch AGAIN is just wasting the entire year of growth they had

Still hope though since the new coach can decide to go with a core of them again though

posted 5 months ago

Yea definitely weird situation for both TO and the Orgs

Dont want to over-invest in a good team since you cant ascend anyways, but need to be good enough to not get relegated

Idk it could help both Polaris and East a ton with their org problem. You have pretty much free picking and player salaries are (relatively) cheap.
Though I personally dont see any org in EMEA doing this instead of partnering with an existing org... just feels way too expensive considering orgs already dont use that system.

posted 5 months ago

ufff gonna be really rough for em

posted 5 months ago

isnt it the exact opposite, where the org owns the spot not the players?

We had the "fun" case with Laterious in dach where the org never really existed and then the roster had to FF their last game after this became apparent to the league
https://www.vlr.gg/188548/angry-titans-vs-laterious-challengers-league-dach-evolution-split-2-r7

Spain should have the same rule since they also have the org requirement and invited orgs at the start

high chance im confused about everything though; never actually read the org part of the rule book (and cant say the import rules were thrilling enough that im planning to go back xD)
End result should be the same though where you just cant sell your spot

Jesse is 100% rising talent. Hes never looked anywhere near this good and (at least to my knowledge) its the first time his team has made it to a notable t1.5 tourney. This is his "pick me up for t1" year. So with rising I didnt mean rookie.

Kpzet made it through playins quite convincingly last year as you might remember, this being his second qualification in a row. Hence me referring to him as the veteran; hes been here before.

Eeeeeh not sure about form. Both have been insane in their respective leagues and since I dont rate France that highly this year (a couple rosters hogging a lot of talent hard flopped and m8 just ascended) I struggle comparing their stats.

And oml it'd be tragic if they have to keep him, win ascension and then bench him.

posted 5 months ago

Ye idk, its just a horrible decision from the outside. Yea lets just drop our best player from the last split, sounds like a good idea^^
shit must have REALLY been going wrong for them internally to reach that conclusion

Cause this team does not need another rising talent. Yall got 3 of em already. Keep your fragging veteran!

------------------
Also this is funny af considering hes working for the TO hosting ascension xD

In Germany one of the biggest aspects in picking a brand would be your local mechanics (what parts the good ones have access to (at least here a ton only repair one brand), which ones are just out to scam you, etc)
Just asking older people in your area whove gone through a ton of brands in their days that helps a lot.

Idk if that really applies to the US, but might be worth a mention

posted 5 months ago

The take itself 100% correct, imo
Theres plenty of maps you can take fall damage on as the defender and we've never seen anyone snakebite + nade themselves on defense.
It just doesnt make sense with how valorant works.

Its just Lothar being over the top as usual.
From his perspective its clearly premeditated intentional throwing (which should be fined!),,, but yea its not THAT bad. Ult eco is snowbally, Lev had a bad buy to carry all guns over (although that round would have been super winable vs those guns too so double edged sword there) and lev were hitting shots.

It was fine to do. It didnt change anything for that map and you can follow the thought process.

To be clear, they do follow the rules, but that doesn't mean the rules are perfect.

Then discussing the rules rather than making a post complaining that Riot is treating japan unfairly. The very thing youre asking for is favoritism rather than equal treatment.

Cmiiw Rage are supposed to handle the equipment going in. The server and the competition all are still handled by riot.

This would be unusual (japan being the only region where this would be the case) but if it is true and they dont have any part in the rules/format then I apologize to Rage. I just assumed they'd have the same structure as everyone else.

And of course you can be critical of orgs importing and advocate for them to stay national. I personally think its going to stunt the growth of a region, but im sure as hell not going to stop you. Thats 100% your thing.
Problem is your post wasnt about that. Your post complained about riot treating CL Japan unfairly.

posted 5 months ago

Youre confused
CL Japan does not have any custom rules. The rule youre upset about is a rule EVERY region has which allows Pacific players to be considered residents after playing in a CL for 2 splits.
Imports going to a region with money has nothing to do with rules. Its the orgs that will import players to raise their chances of winning. You can see this in other regions too (in EMEA 5 out of 10 regions have more imports than Japan).
No one is abusing import rules.

And no, the rules in JP wont change because of a Mongolian team. To be clear this whole problem is on Rage and their lack of clear communication. This is not Riots problem. Either:

  1. The rules allowed them to play in JP and the confusion is just a mistake
    or
  2. They wont get let in and will have to qualify in another sub-region.

Regardless of what happens Riot had no part in it.

Youre just out of touch with the rest of the scene. Japan isnt getting any worse treatment than anyone and are subject to the exact same rules as everyone else.
Any custom rules they have were decided by Rage themselves (although none of your problems are based on custom rules Rage have made).

eeeeh take is fine if you spend 5 minute thinking about it and just look at how many ecos we have this year
(For people thinking its an optimal decision just consider if a team goes and snakebite + nades themselves on defense. After all you can deny 5 ult orbs, plant and money for kills for just 300 credits.)

but the conclusion is just insane xD
considering all the shit we saw that game there'd have to be a whole bunch of fines if we start fining bad decisions.

Also personally dont find it disrespectful. If you somehow come to the conclusion that you are that shit at ecos that youre better of just giving them a free round with 0 damage and 0 util used then go for it.

posted 5 months ago

Its a huge problem in t2 that rules arent clear and accessible
Premier is confusing, rulebooks arent public or incomplete. Riots official communications are lackluster so its up to the TO of every league to get this stuff out there, and they quite honestly just dont seem equipped for it.

Were lucky in polaris that we have Bodork who actually finds stuff out for us and posts it publicly to avoid situations like this, but even then you just get blind sighted by so much
(e.g. GC players being allowed to play in CL... which after months of asking got an answer from riot only after premier started, just as a fck you to any gc teams)

The HK & TW does actually suck though, wtf is that system x.x

posted 5 months ago

well the big problem with t2 tourneys is with the viewers.

Theres only so much riot can do when no one gives 2 shits about unofficial t2/t3 tournaments
Vlr being horrible with showing these games doesnt help either since you gotta actually follow a scene to know theres a tourney going on

https://www.twitch.tv/evctournaments heres one live rn (grand finals) for Polaris and theyre at 60 viewers
We dont have the same luxury as cs where theres gambling money being thrown at any TO, allowing them to build viewers over time

Hosting tourneys is expensive af and 100 viewers just isnt gonna cut it

posted 5 months ago

For map 1 id also like to praise sen for how well prepared their defense plan was
DRX has this problem on sunset where they just cant get the B postplants down cleanly and refuse to do the spam.
So Sen went into their defense fully aware of this giving up SO much more space on B than you could normally afford and focused on retaking
Zellsis' util kills were also insane that game.

(I also gotta admit im suprised just how often Sen were able to stop the plant despite giving up site for pretty much free

Drx did eventually start doing the (more) normal postplant on B (still often a more safe plant position rather than the good one, but it was fine given the space they had) and it got them 2 more rounds, so they did well generally adapting.

Despite the more scrappy end this was one of my favorite maps this year since it was such a fun clash of game-plans.

Im just surprised riot has not even attempted to do anything to fix the problems SA is facing

it makes waves, what feels like, every 4 months and they just cover their ears and close their eyes, hoping it goes away
We predicted it wouldnt work. It doesnt work. It wont work. At least attempt to fix it please.

If Im not mistaken theyre not even doing band-aid fixes like regular tourneys between the regions (how we're getting them in EMEA next year). Just nothing.
We dont need another Australia fuckup.

Hard to comment on since we dont know how they deal with stuff exactly
I for sure can see it cause issues (harder to make roster changes, people are more forgiving of mistakes and stuff like that)
but also I really dont think the businesslike and tense relationship is that beneficial for esports. Ya gotta play day in and day out with these people. If you cant become friends with them youre not gonna enjoy your time and inadvertently lose your motivation

Personally I think most of the downsides of a more friendly environment can be fixed by the correct coach. "Just" get someone who all the players respect enough and who is willing to light a fire under their ass when they do stupid shit.

But yeeeea, the segment is super short so im making a ton of assumptions about what he meant here.

Heres polaris' qual they had for split 2 with 4 premier teams https://www.vlr.gg/event/1943/challengers-league-2024-northern-europe-polaris-split-1/eclipse-pro-rel
just got owned by the existing t2/t3 teams though (which is sorta expected since k10 already played in t3 before and only made it to top 7/8 so they were playing uphill)

From what I understand, the format is gonna change next year but theres too much info going around with it (leagues handle it differently) so im not 100% sure how its gonna look

People missing the point of this post is funny af

I do agree that the whole region wars is stupid; it leads people to turn their brains off and not actually watch the games. Just "teams from other region = bad reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee", making proper discussion is pretty much impossible.
The concept is just part of sports and youre never gonna get rid of it though (and it would ruin a significant amount of the people left on vlrs experience if you were to ngl)

For your problem it might help to think of this whole thing more as a "war of the servers/leagues" rather than associating it with countries.
Country of birth isnt really relevant in esports, which is innately digital, what matters is if you play with the people/watch all their matches.

I have no problem saying a polish player like Iluri is a dach representative, since hes played in our regions for as long as it existed, but I wouldnt consider Tex a Dach representative at all.

And ofc you dont gotta take part in it (blocking some of the bigger baiters is gonna help). Even when commenting on teams from other regions if youre a decent user, dont flame/bait etc, then people generally dont care about your flag and are perfectly fine with engaging with your opinions.

ok I feel like im reading stuff differently to all of yall
would it be possible from someone who reads it as a career ending accusation to just spell out what part it is that thats so critical for them? (Not because I dont believe yall or your concerns (im clearly in the minority with my interpretation), but just because I struggle to read it in a way which would lead to that conclusion)

Imma just start to cut down the thread length
The "I always showed that everything was fine when inside it was just fights every day [...] endless screams" part to me just sounds like an abusing relationship with Mazino having some problematic anger issues
"and grabs on my arms that left marks on me" is the serious accusation here, however the way its worded it sounds like this was a 1 time thing which (given the next sentence about the family) Mazino was ashamed of ever happening

And then the pervert thing is whatever. Like not pretty but that isnt gonna change anything

posted 5 months ago

affect for sure, but theyre not career ending which what I was saying^^

posted 5 months ago

but is it? genuinely?
there are so many pros who have much worse reputation who still actively play & get trials, and ofc it absolutely sucks to have someone so highly regarded turn out to be (assuming the allegations are true) shit privately, but youre not gonna lose your job for it

None of the stuff alleged is illegal, its just an abusive relationship, and it alleges him being really bad with his anger.
"grabs on my arms that left marks on me" is bad af, but its not "you need to be fired and outlawed from the scene" level or anywhere close

this translation does not allege him hitting her which would be much more problematic

posted 5 months ago

Ok before people lose their mind in either direction
This isnt a cancel callout thing chill
We dont need a legal report or shit, just read it (or dont) - maybe even adjust your opinion of mazino if you idolize him - and move on

Based on the translation the tweet isnt trying to take him out of the pro scene.
I would interpret this as her sharing experiences and ending a chapter in her life, especially since it makes mention of a psychologist. Airing shit out helps and is an important step to recovery.
