I heard he had a wrist surgery. How long do you all think it will reasonably take until he can play again?

Skuba has aim, and has good timings, but he doesn't really have much clutch potential imo.

FaZe has been doing shit recently, but supamen used to have a huge amount of fragging power back in LCQ

Why does everyone hype him up so much, I get excited every time I see him play because of the things everyone says about him, but I have yet to see anything really that impressive. Supamen feels like a better controller ngl

-trent is a hard initiator, he's not as capable an entry fragger as is required for Victor's role. Furthermore, he primarily mains sova which puts him in conflict with crashies.

-Making Sacy IGL is a stupid idea. dephh, while infuriatingly bad at times, is necessary on SEN. While it's not much to brag about, he's the third best IGL in NA (though the distance between 2nd and 3rd place is huge)

Victor is getting close to the average retirement age for FPS players. Depending on NRG's performance throughout the year, there's an actual chance that NRG might sign sinatraa to take over. It's scary just how well his preferred roles fit in with Victor's roles.

I feel like people haven't really explored the idea of Gekko lineups with his abilities; that is, shooting them out so that wherever they end up landing is in an easy spot for him to pick them up while out of danger.

Okay okay, I'm going to explain this simply to all of you so you understand.

Good A is a substitute for Good B when there is a decrease in demand (or supply) of Good B.

Good A is a complement for Good B when there is either an increase or decrease in demand of Good B.

Lemonade and Iced Tea are substitutes of each other. Both serve the same purpose for the majority of their consumers--refreshment. If demand for Iced Tea goes down (maybe because its price went up) more people buy its (cheaper) substitute, lemonade.

Gaming mice and video games are complements. If demand for a competitive shooter goes up, then so does the demand for gaming mice. Likewise, if demand for video games as a whole goes down, less people will buy gaming mice. They complement each other.

Valorant and CS:GO, as two goods, aren't as simple as the above examples; the reason being, there is no single appeal that defines the consumer for either game.

You could say both are substitutes because most players of either game just see them as nearly identical tactical shooters, sure, but Valorant and CS:GO but there's an asymmetry between each games' playstyle.

For example:

One person might like Valorant because it's more ability focused, and they don't have to have insanely good aim to be good at the game itself. If Valorant were to die, it's highly unlikely that they would switch to CS:GO.

Likewise, another person might like CS:GO better because they prefer the heavy focus on aim, and don't want their screens clustered by abilities. If CS:GO were to die, I doubt they (alongside many, many, MANY outspoken CS:GO players) would want to play valorant.

That being said, as I mentioned before, it's all a matter of each game's consumer-base. The key to the issue is finding out what percentage of each game values in their respective choices, and why.

Sure, there are aim fundamentalists in Valorant too, and if CS:GO were to explode, they might switch over, but that's not to say the entirety of the community would switch over.
Unsurprisingly enough, there are a lot of strategy-minded CS:GO players that would find themselves like fish in water if they switched over to Valorant (like FNS did).

Going forward, with an influx of new players to either game, some might find that whatever their choice was initially was not the right fit for them, and end up switching to the other game, while those that do enjoy their picks will simply stay.

So, the final ruling is this:

Valorant and CS:GO serve as substitutes for portions of each game's respective player-bases, but just like a 0.01$ increase in Lemonade prices wouldn't automatically make everyone stop drinking lemonade altogether, unless CS:GO 2 REALLY kicks off in popularity, it won't affect Valorant. Furthermore, Valorant will still retain a large, dedicated core community unless they really fuck up what makes their game unique (horrible balancing of abilities), but less they want to lose all their customers to Valve, Riot will try extra hard not to do that (healthy competition).

They aren't complements, they're substitutes and their developers are therefore competitors (but that's a good thing.)

There's a physical limit I assume. It's physically impossible for a player to have above a certain APM, so just kick the player if they meet a threshold.

Once you get used to it, it's actually really easy to play in servers with as much as 200 ping. Something even made it to top 10 Radiant in NA doing so.

Plus, Japan servers for me only have 90 ping even though I live in NA.

How did the community get this spoiled after only 2 months? You want everyone to go back to ranked? The whole point of pro city was to avoid playing against throwers, not to only play against other pros.

I remember the OpTic era.

While all of NA was embroiled in clout wars, Victor, Crashies, FNS, Yay, and Marved would barely make an effort to market themselves--they didn't need to.

None of them were trying to get noticed by bigger orgs, all of them knew they had a world class roster and worked tirelessly to polish their game for the sole sake of winning.

Crashies and Victor in particular would go highly underrated for A. Never streaming and thus never getting to show off their individual skill, and B. playing selflessly instead of going for flashy but risky plays; all this despite being the best NA had to offer for those respective roles.

It was them that embarrassed the rest of NA for their slothfulness and forced them to up their game--when your entire region is shit, nobody cares if you do bad, but when there is a world-class team winning majors, everyone cares about watching them play and not you.

OpTic/NV was the shining beacon of hope for NA Valorant.

No matter what meta, they remained consistently world-class; from Berlin all the way to Champions, they never fell off the way other NA teams did.

And now, we're back to square one. NRG is good, and I'm expecting great things from that core once again, but with no clear team on top of NA, teams like C9, SEN, and 100T are once again able to call themselves world class by accumulating world-class talent and putting in none of the effort to build up their strategy, protocols, and scrim experience that made them world class in the first place.

Nobody wanted to scrim each other, they accumulate world class talent and refuse to let them play each other; instead, they learn to play against Turtle Troops.

If NA valorant is to survive, one team has to not only pick up the crown of undisputed best, but also assure that they do not get complacent after the fact. They will bring the rest of the scene up with them, and our teams will become world class once more.

The only two teams I trust to do this are NRG and 100T.

Yo so I've been going through a few duos recently and while I used to think that both of us going duelist was the best way to rank up, I've realized that having my duo be a good initiator wins more games.

I don't think Jamppi was ever that good at flexing, he's just been forced to do so by every iteration of the TL roster he's been a part of. Even on different agents his playstyle is still mostly the same.

posted about a year ago

I've noticed a weird trend of some players who main one agent having an affinity for the same other agents they play.

I get it when it comes to duelists being more comfortable with Kayo and all, but some of these don't make a lot of sense at first.

For example: take Mada and Alfajer

They both play KJ and Neon, which I've always found really interesting role-wise because they both require completely separate play-styles.

Another example is Sova and Raze, there are so many players that Main sova but also main raze on certain maps.

Just a late-night thought.
