Is it three games max per day or three games on average? I would be concerned if the scheduling would be that inflexible to begin with tbh. For example, in Reykjavik they had one day with four matches.

I think single elim is acceptable for four team playoffs. After all the ultimate reward of the tournament is a champions slot for you or bringing the slot to your region. To have that reward you have to defeat every team either way.
Additional effect of single elim playoffs is the hype factor, each game has weight behind it. With double elim in a four team playoff, it would just feel weird in my opinion.
What you're suggesting is basically this format, but with four groups. Interesting how they chose to just give an additional decider in the same group instead of just extending this concept to a 8 team bracket.
Also what you are suggesting is the gsl format, what they currently have is not gsl.

Tip for the graphic designer: In the image showing the groups, only one side of the final match should be highlighted as white so it's easier to interpret how many will qualify.
As of now it looks like it's two teams per group qualifying and in the next slide the bracket split implies there's 7 matches instead of 7 teams... Suddenly it changes from matches to teams in the second graphic.

I don't really hate this. It depends on whether the finals are BO5 or not, I feel like if they seed a top 1 team into a top 2 team in the playoffs bracket for finals, it would be really lame to have that be a BO3. It also depends on if the international seeding is fucked and 3 or more super good teams make it into one group.
Single elim playoffs is poor for selection, but it's hype as fuck because every game in that bracket is an elimination game.
The problem to begin with is, that they have 11 days flat and 3~ games per day on average so it's either this or just a full 16 team double elim bracket it seems.
If Acend win this, they've basically proven they can beat every team, that has qualified in this tournament.

The idea that both G2 ex-benched players can go to Berlin and one of them can be the ones to deny G2 qualification is too good of a storyline to pass. No matter how much I like the idea of this "EU superteam". The script is written.
As much as I like the players on Liquid, I feel like Gambit can make it deeper in Berlin, which is why I'm rooting for them.
