Well if you don’t know what slander and sarcasm is, you can obviously tell that George is making fun of the reporter and since George has a greater following that unneeded slander is tainting an innocent person’s image. And obviously George won’t admit to himself making mistakes but it’s quite obvious that he thinks he is much better. Overall it’s just unneeded.
