Rio and São Paulo have the same problem that NY, London, Paris and any other giant city has with violence. But what boosts the violence standards in Brazil are North and Northeast, many homicides there happen for stupid reasons while it isn’t so common down here.

it depends on what are your standards. for example, in brazil u have to be cautious about ur belongings and try to not let them in a public place. btw i've never been robbed in my life but ofc for foreigners the chances are higher.

plus north and nouthern really boosts violence index so its not THAT deep further south and southern states (RJ major city is the only exception ig)

its not, Riot games have already hosted LoL MSI in Brazil (mid year international, like vlr masters), and they hosted the finals in Rio, which for me, who lives in São Paulo, is a nono. So I think it can happen, its not dangerous like people think, i lived here for 20 years never seen anything. its not like that lul, São paulo has the same crime rates than Chicago. Brazil crime rates and stats are really boosted by the north and northeast of the country. The south and southeast are pretty safe and developed, actually most than any country or region in south america.
