From my experience most asians espsially Gen Z and millinials are multi lingual they speak their mother tongue , english and some of their countries' local languages .
Like me for example I was born in USA so I was exposed to english first , then my mother toungue Bengali and oriya which is my father's language , then when I came to India i was forced to learn hindi . I used to live in Manhattan NYC in like an area where typically asian professionals would live like by professionals i mean like lawyers , consultants jobs like that , my neighbors were thai they said that like along with english and thai most people choose to learn chinese from the options and its usually same in most other south east asian countries .
