Gap between games

Why does a video game require a gap of 7 days between matches? Even high performance sports have a gap of like 3-4 days max so compared to that Valorant should get a maximum of like 2 days.

The quality of the gameplay would significantly decrease if teams only had 2 days between each match. The season would also be way too short

A gap of say 4 days with each team facing each other twice would make judging teams much easier cuz 5 games is just not enough to determine if a team is good ykwim

A team that is not top 4 in their group doesn't deserve to be judged further anyway so I really don't think it matters

Having a couple of bad days is possible

You don't deserve to make it past groups if all of your bad days are during your matches

Oh come on... you think the quality of the games would significantly decrease? Have not been watching the games? How many near wipes have we had? This is not a good argument as you are assuming things would get worse when they are already bad.

Valorant is all about cooking in prep time and getting reps on those newly cooked recipes!

Seeing your team “cook” for 7 days and losing 0-2 doesn’t make for a good viewing experience considering you have to wait 7 more days for the next game.

cmiiw but esports is not like trad sports, yea maybe we do have lots of online viewers but they don't sell tickets that much. except it's league or cs.

high performance sports (e.g. soccer) has 18++ teams in the league if they make 7 days gap they wouldn't have any season breaks, plus they have other tournaments outside the league and also national team matches

Its that or the season ends in august and we have a 6 month off season

rlcs got through 3 open regional qualifiers in roughly the same time it took vct to get through one kickoff

There isn't much gap if u follow all regions tbh.

except you forgot that most leagues like football for that matter do have a 1 week break, just having to settle for a stacked December because of international breaks

it's a hot take (apparently) but I agree. Teams should be playing 2 games a week. the gap is so zzzzz

There'd be way too many games to watch as a viewer.

over half the games aren't worth watching.

that's your personal opinion. people are working to make all this happen, doubling their work load is just cruel because they can't be biased like you.

Holy fuck a month break is insane. Fans are too lenient on Riot for this shit

I kinda agree but I think the real problem is the gap between seasons/tournys, especially at the end of the year

they can fix that by playing double the amount of games. why dont they just do a round robin for each regional league each split and have twice as many games played. a team can be in good form during one split which makes it harder for other teams in their group to qualify for playoffs and vice versa. they should make each regional split a round robin and let more teams qualify to internationals it'd be way better

i mean its kinda to space it out more throughout the year no?

The gap is great I now have lots of time to watch t2 I think that's the intention with it

It's because lec and lck are going on now...and since lta has also started the gap between na games will increase as well

Because soccer games have tens of thousands of paying crowds and billions of dollars in TV broadcasting rights deals. In Val, Riot Arena has 200 people in the stands (not sold out) and free YouTube viewers who don't spend any money. With the exception of internationals, playing fewer matches is beneficial.

Unironically I think it's cause of scheduling. For these regular season games riot uses their own arenas which they also use for other games (LoL) and other activities, so they need to spread the games out more. Whenever they rent an arena for masters the games are always more compact and we don't have these breaks because the more days they reserve the more money they have to spend. I don't think they really care about prep time for teams

I think it's mostly for viewership and tickets. On weekends most people get time to watch matches. It makes sense to keep matches during weekends.

i just think its stupid to not have atleast 1 region play every day. so unfair to those of us with lifes. i literally cannot watch NA or half of EMEA cus i work and sleep all day fri-sun
