To be fair Gambit has been looking pretty weak recently. They lost to Acend in Redbull Homegrounds 2 (they got 13-0'd) and now are losing maps to teams who have no right to take a map from the "best team".

Nah teams are simply getting better. Gambit wont have that explosive punch and the nAts lurk advantage, everyone is expecting it now, gambit are heavily analysed being the defending champs

Im still baffled by the fact APAC gets a total of 5 spots, the most out of any region if we take into the account the "big" ones (EMEA, NA, SA and APAC) - while also being seemingly the weakest one.
This simply is not true.
NA got 3. EMEA is a combination of regions (CIS + EU + Turkey) and they also only got 3 (4th is the slot Gambit got by winning Masters Berlin)
South America gets a total of 4 (2 BR, 1 LATAM + LCQ) slots.
and SEA gets 2 alone, Korea gets one separate, Japan for some unknown reason also gets one separate - and there's also an APAC LCQ with yet another spot on the line. The spot distribution doesn't make any sense at all.
This is the first year, Riot is still testing things out. It'll get better next year.
Maybe something like 4 EU, 3 NA, 2 BR, 2KR, 1 SA, 1SEA, 1JP, 1 Masters, 1 for Riot to throw wherever they feel like.
If Riot wanna stick to the LCQ's, they can even do like 4 EU, 3 NA, 2 BR, 1 KR, 1 SA, 1JP, 1 SEA, 1 Americas, 1 APAC, 1 Masters.
the slot distribution for this year is based on the amount of playerbase that's why japan got 2 for master, and riot is kr biased. should expect more fair slot distribution next year. riot know what they're doing.
Bruh u talking abt champions and he is talking abt master. Read first. Also, do you even know how many regions are in APAC? From what I see, riot is trying to give slots considering player population.
FIY: APAC includes, Japan, Korean, south asia(which is made of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, etc), SEA ( which is made of like 8 different countries. If only the good regions get slots, that would be stupid. As I see it, the slot distribution isn’t that bad. IMO instead of taking away spots, riot should add more spots to make it 24 teams instead of 16. Or 20.
EMEA is a combination of regions as well, the difference is that big European countries like Russia/France/Germany don't get the same treatment as Korea or Japan.

I mean if we are judging from lcq it was only full sense who really beat the kr teams. Damwon/Nuturn did beat paper rex and boom convincingly so its pretty unfair to say kr is worse than sea.
boom and paper rex were very unstable at that time, they both are trying out new strats (f0rsaken as sentinel and frostmind as intiator/smoker) even paper rex lose against nth and i dont think they are worse than nth. The only prepared SEA is full sense
i mean same thing with damwon and nuturn? damwon were literally doing roster changes and had no practice as they were recently announced that they were playing (alongside with northeption) and Nuturn were taking a huge gamble with hyeoni trying new strats.
ig apac in general is just so random , global esport beat damwon, then they got destroyed 13-0 by paperx, then paper rex loses against damwon

KR's level is the same as SEA with the exception of VS and you don't know which team is best in SEA right now it's random.

Slots have nothing to do with skill and competitiveness. The sooner you learn this the better.
Riot literally runs Worlds in LOL every year with spot distribution based on how regions fared during the previous years. When EU was better than Korea on average for 2 years they transferred the 4th slot from LCK to LEC. Then EU had a crap year and the next year the 4th slot went back to the LCK since they were the 2nd highest rated league.
Honestly, with how much Asian regions are pouring into val and the quality of players coming out, i can see SEA improving a lot next. It already happened with South America and i believe SEA can surprise us too.
