After earning their place in VCT China in 2024 by winning China Ascension the year prior, their placement in league play in 2025 will determine if they extend their stay in Valorant's top tier. A 9th-12th finish at the end of Stage 2 will automatically relegate them to China's second tier, while a 5th-8th finish means they can participate in the Ascension tournament to retain their spot in VCT. A top-four finish, meaning qualification for Champions 2025, will see them automatically retain their spot.

After reaching Masters Shanghai last year, expectations were high for DRG, but they ended league play in the bottom half of the Stage 2 standings, missing out on Champions 2024.

To start 2025, DRG finished fourth at China Kickoff, a good sign of things to come should they keep up their play through the rest of the year.
