where do you rank the importance of a replay func

let's say you are a multi billion dollar gaming company. you are about to make a super competitive shooter which main focus is Esports and Esports content as well as player integrity (catching and preventing cheaters etc)

How important is a replay feature to you when making the game? would it be important for your whole team to make sure it is prioritize and made available asap in the game?

who made the decision at riot that a replay function should be an afterthought?

esports wise yes, very important
for casuals eh

but I agree it shouldn't have been an afterthought. I agree with what balla tweeted, he said that an imperfect system which is improved over time beats a refined system which isn't as imperfect on release (something like this can never be completely perfect)

i am a casual and there are many times after a game where i wish i could view the pov of sus players and a replay system would clear my doubts

The thing is, how often does that really happen?
VAL has had cheaters in high elo recently yeah, but when you put it in perspective with other live service games, the AC is still really good.
On top of that, replays aren't perfect, and they never can be, this means that legit shots can look like cheats and cheats can look legit, because of that ambiguity it doesn't really hold up as a system to find and prevent cheaters (which as I mentioned before, Vanguard is pretty good at)

The irony of you saying the AC is pretty good and I remember I had a cheater literally 3 games ago is funny as hell

I mean if i look at games like dota, league, etc it actually is pretty horrible to be honest, it feels to me as though I get a sus player at best every 20 odd games in plat/ascendant where i normally sit in the ranking ladder, what i mean by sus isn't just cheaters but also smurfs, etc.

most players are low to mid elo and that is where most cheaters are. looking at how a player react to enemy rotations or maybe having their crosshair tracking enemy behind walls are just some giveaways that the person is cheating. the AC is great but would be even better with a replay system where you can clip and report right away with hard evidence

compared to what? clearly not very important for this business model if it's been held off for so long. it's just a very nice quality of life feature that is normally in other games as well

compared to every other competitive game out there with an esport scene. those games have great working replay systems.

what? i meant compared to other features that are in discussion when making a game. i thought that was the original subject

it's less about the replay system itself and more public trust for me, With a replay system it feels as though you are adding content to satiate content creators, people who hunt cheaters and the odd few people who just think someone in their game is cheating, There have been multiple times where I've thought it in Marvel Rivals and such but I could put it to bed 100% by watching the video replay and knowing either I was or wasn't right

I mean look at all of the oldschool vac review videos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTDu6D6uejk&list=PLF6iM8IDUylNkcc-qPt5EiX9Q5Ozq254a&index=17) this is where content creators could do a service to csgo by preventing cheaters from playing and get content out of it, this is fundamentally a win win for the community for sure.

TL:DR I don't know why you wouldn't want to, Fundamentally I feel as though it's a win win.

it would be game changing for all of esports if you could watch other teams' demos like you could on cs2

Dont care. I have a clipping feature that lets me clip my aces and cool kills. Sure replay system will let me see how I killed a guy through paper wall but thats really it.

theoretically it is important, but whether I release the replay system or not, idiots are gonna keep buying skins from my shitty market that only has 4 skins daily so I'll just focus on releasing a bundle once in a while and call it a month
