im in my first semester of college and havent gone to class since september (maybe early october but like first week tops) im pretty sure i missed one of my finals and i have one coming up on thursday. can i fix this somehow?

second, def talk to ur professor or counsellor or whtv u have for the most advice on what to do

if they can do something to help u then work w them to do as much as u can on what u missed

It is really up to the professor. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming that you couldnt come for personal reasons, but reason with the professor and ask if theres anything that you can do(including just taking the final and taking a certain grade like maybe a 70 as the max). But its up to the professors discretion at the end of the day

kind of ironic that you speak of "the real world" and yet seem oblivious to what could happen to an individual's circumstances

who are you to say that they are privileged? they haven't given any hints towards their situation. they could've be a 1st generation american who used their blood sweat and tears, sacrificed their social life to secure some scholarships then some unprecedented whirlwind came and swept them off their feat. or they could be a rich kid who won the parent roulette but who are we to judge? the beauty of america is that they say anyone can do anything

If there was any real reason besides pure laziness for him to only show up to college for 4 weeks, they would have explained their situation in the original post.

Not only that but all colleges accommodate for situations of that magnitude, and this wasn't just a last-minute thing, he stopped going to school by early october.

The real beauty of America is that as long has you work hard and put in time, you can achieve financial success, which this person clearly isn't doing by showing up for only 4 weeks of college. Not just "anybody" can do that sadly.

First of all, if it isnt a personal reason or you dont have a really good reason, what are you doing? real shit tho for stuff like this, it is better to ask your professor, counselor, or some higher management for advice and start reviewing the stuff taught in the lectures ASAP. Also make sure to not skip class in the future EVEN if you are reviewing recordings of lectures afterwards. one last thing, what course is your final tho? for some courses it is possible to learn the material really quickly if you dont waste time.
