They're nerfing pings to fix an issue that comes about soley because of their terrible map design
The spam issue exists because they keep inventing maps where postplant spam is the dominant strategy
Notice how it's nowhere near as much of an issue in CS? That's because their maps don't cater to the strategy and there are other games design decisions that prevent it
This is a band-aid solution that massively messed with QoL, all because their map design is so terrible
Almost no other competitive game has maps in rotation so universally hated by the community they got dodged before the game even starts
And instead of looking at the root cause, the maps, they double down on stopping people dodging whilst ignoring the reason they dodge in the first place
This whole balance philosophy is so cooked
Why make a game where basically every smokes character creates essentially the same sized spherical smokes, then invent maps like breeze and icebox where a large amount of the characters are non viable because the map geometry prevents them from being able to effectively block angles?
