Do VCT teams have actual scouting?

I know coaches and assistants can watch other teams play and what not already, but I think it'd be worthwhile for a team to have a dedicated scout that's only job is to find new talent early. Players like Oxy, Demon1, N4rrate, were all either not being pursued hard enough or straight up were just ranked demons, and they've all become world class talents, better than most t1 mainstays. If winning is as important as teams make it seem, why not have a real scout that can find these kinds of players before they generate too much buzz? I think what Heretics did is the way forward for VCT.

Certaim teams are more open to players who can bend the rules of proper valorant, whether through agent mastery or raw aim.

The vast majority of teams, however, already have a system in mind and care more about finding the best fitting puzzle pieces for their vision than molding that vision to accomodate for a specific talent.

FrosT was originally going to not go forward with Primmie despite him acing on his first round of his very first scrim (against paper rex), because he wasn't playing at all how he wanted him to--aim be damned.

The exceptions to this are PRX, C9, and a lot of teams that are rebuilding their rosters who dont yet have a set system

the scale just doesn't make sense I think

in a sport like football, you have a roster of like 25 people in your main squad, as well as a squad at every level of the youth ladder, it makes sense to have scouts as you likely have hundreds of players at your club at any time

valorant...? Most teams still just have 5 players, atleast 2-3 of who are known quantities, is it worth hiring someone to fill 3 roster spots?

also, coaches generally have a certain archetype of player they want I imagine, which they'd understand better than a scout.

In esports, it's quite hard to open vacant positions just for scouts. That's why they hold open trials if they are looking for new talent, which has worked out well in several cases. Esports in general is not as big as sports in terms of player base (depth), nor does it have the stable profit (its quite hard for esports orgs to make enough profit to fit in "scouts" when open trials and coaches already do the job)

isn’t it better to just have open tryouts. If you have to make a last second decision, scouting would come in handy, otherwise, idk

It's better to have tryouts
