Is it even fun anymore?

Obviously winning is fun and SR just won the biggest tourney in GC back to back. They won without dropping a single map, let alone a series with a +40 round diff. SR rolled harder than last year and they only dropped 3 maps last year. I feel like going into every series knowing you're going to win might take some of the excitement out of it.

Whats also funny is that everyone outside of Noia played worse than last year, stats wise. If they can take the next step as a team, they might make T2 through quals, not saying they can ascend, but GC is too easy for them

they don't even get much opportunity to go further. sean gares said gc overlapped with the time t2 teams would use for trialing players. sucks

meL has talked about wanting to get to that next level for awhile now. Its a big risk but what if they skip GC and try to T2 full on? (is T2 still open quals?) Obviously the chance of them doing this are practically none, but like playing in the GC circuit isn't helping them improve especially when the other top teams like G2, mibr, and xipto aren't in your region so you play them once a year at champs.

Brah their game against g2 was insanely competitive.
15-17
12-14

And I genuinely believe that if they played mid season with the breeze, icebox, lotus map pool g2 would have won

But I imagine those regional games get soooo boring, especially when they have to go through gc open quals which is like ascendant teams

G2 and TL last year were really the only teams that have challenged them and they only get to play them once a year. If riot really wanted to grow the scene I want them to try to implement another international instead of 3 open quals

If I remember correctly all the teams that qualifed for gc championship get a spot on their regional challengers league (or maybe it was like closed qualifier spot) so the next step is reaching tier 2 for most of them

"Flexible Signings: Game Changers players can be signed anytime by Challengers or International League teams, bypassing all transfer windows and restrictions."

Wait this is kind of broken

I think its just safety. If they are this strong in GC then it means that they have almost guaranteed income from winning tournaments and the orgs that they are in rn. Despite them absolutely rolling the most recent GCC, we don't know what will happen when they join up in ascension or do other events. Its likely that if they decided to try to do Ascension they would have to brute force their way through everything without the safety of orgs and income(unless they can get picked up by a T1/T2 org than this isn't a problem). Benjyfishy is insane but he had to play through more than a year of open qualifiers, barely getting paid and play through hella losses before he got picked up and started putting out results. I don't know if the SR roster wants to go through with all of that, even though they're all insanely skilled and have potential.

I think it's still fun for sure. Competing against yourself is pretty fun. The challenge for them is to see how long they can keep it going, because eventually it will end, somebody will drop in form, roster changes, etc.
