Ascension VS Academy

Anyone know how it works?
I keep hearing that academy teams can't go to Ascension
But I thought that just meant that the Org can't play in ascension
Like. If an Academy team wins their spot, can't the Org just, sell them? To another org BEFORE Ascension?
What's the point in joining an Academy team if you Aren't underage??

If they can sell the slot after placing well enough to qualify it would be huge
but from what's been explained so far that can't happen.

There are some benefits (although kinda small). You can instantly be promoted to the t1 team if they need someone (if you're 16+), the org can sell players

iirc the academy teams just can't compete under the org's brand/banner. so if T1 academy for some reason or another competes in tier 2 they could just rename themselves to some shit like "1T" and it'll be fine. if they win and choose to ascend they just get bought out by an org

but then if they win ascension they need an org to buy them out, in t1 academy's case it'd work cause theres plenty of asians teams with money but in other regions it might be more difficult

back when the situation with The Guard happened it was confirmed that both G2 and Flyquest were competing to acquire the roster. There would probably be orgs both already in and out of the valorant ecosystem willing to get a slot in tier 1 if the opportunity arose for them in every region, so i don't really think that's an issue. the ACTUAL issue is an academy team's contractual obligations and if the org would be willing to let them go
