i mean they definitely tested it in scrims and found role switching works better. my guess is that because they dont have someone like sacy anymore, johnqt probably wants to be with the pack more and give more freedom to narrate to take his own timings.

john also used to play scan ini on m80 + igling is easier on ini, we saw nrg try this in the 23 season it just didnt work out because the roster was shti

the best roles to igl is smoker and initiator because ur actually with the team
if ur a sentinel/lurker then you're isolated and cant really control the tempo on attack and you need to focus more on gaps and lurk timings rather than comming

yeah and typically on a sentinel theres never really a time when you can call a setup with utility for your team, on an init or controller if you want something to happen there isn't a delay from calling it all out to your initiator and then to your duelist as well. Just an easier flow unless you have someone like sacy/zellsis taking part in the midrounding as well

its not just util because narrate is definitely a good init player that understands util timings, so i think its mostly midrounding: calling cancels or hits/splits, etc.

sacy -> johnqt initiator is basically a sidegrade
johnqt -> n4rrate sentinel is a MASSIVE upgrade

mainly its to improve IGLing seeing that you are in the fighting with your team making calls easier

when you play sentinel you kind of have to lurk making the IGLing a bit harder cause you aren't actually there

also lurking as an igl is hard because you can lose your focus while comming and looking at the map and then you die to a timing because you weren't paying attention on whats in front

it makes so much sense to have narrate lurk

John wants to be on ini so he can make decisions more reactively, unlike before when sacy could handle it. His personal stats are going to be worse because initiators are a lot more selfless than sentinels, and get less opportunities for 1v1 and use their util to set up teammates more so than themselves.

but now narrate has to sit back 75% of the round and hold a site dontu see the problem narrate can frag if he gets contact first its easily a 4v5 where as if john picks first duels its a 5 v 4

narrate still frag while holding down site, he is the person with the highest potential on SEN to out aim others and completely hold down site. Narrate is similar to leaf being on Sentinel role. two fraggers that can out duel others and lurk.

modern sentinel meta is aggressive sentinels, every sentinel plays very aggressively, even G2 dropped their passive sentinel and chose to have leaf to switch to sentinel than get another sentinel; narrate will take fights.
