blaZek1ng announces retirement

After a four-year-long career, former Global Esports Global Esports Asia-Pacific Rank #37 UdoTan Go Kyung-won (고경원) Kr1stal Savva Fedorov kellyS Kelly Sedillo Papi Federico Evangelista Deryeon Derrick Yee player Gary "blaZek1ng" Dastin has retired from e-sports.

blaZek1ng made the switch to Valorant after a short Counter-Strike: Global Offensive career, making his debut for BOOM Esports BOOM Esports Asia-Pacific Rank #2 dos9 Zhumagali Dastan Famouz Fikri Zaki Hamdani Shiro Hildegard Arnaldo NcSlasher Sheldon Andersen Chandra BerserX Rizkie Adla Kusuma in 2020. He played for the Indonesian team for three seasons, helping them stay towards the top of the Indonesian Challengers circuit and eventually reaching Champions 2022. In 2023, BOOM Esports lifted the Indonesian Challengers League, earning entry into Pacific Ascension. At Ascension, they fell in the semifinals to eventual champions BLEED BLEED Inactive .

After the 2023 season, blaZek1ng joined Global Esports, who was coming off of an eighth-place finish in the 2023 Pacific League. In 2024, Global Esports fielded another diverse roster, boasting players from five different home countries. Similarly to the prior year, the season ended in disappointment, as they would win just three matches across both splits and fail to qualify for the playoffs of any event they competed in. Towards the end of this past season with GE, he was the team's go-to Sentinel player, filling the Killjoy and Cypher roles, but had been known to play Viper, Omen, and Sova as well.

blaZek1ng announced that he was an unrestricted free agent weeks into the offseason, but less than a month later has now retired. Before the start of the offseason, Global Esports announced its entire roster were restricted free agents. Their roster is now a clean slate.

Not related to him since I don't know if he didn't want to go to tier 2 teams or not
But ex tier 1 players seriously need to consider going into tier 2. It is unstable but you get to play more games and it's not that bad.12 tier 1 teams, 60-65 players will only get a chance at tier 1. Not everyone can be there. Pros just don't understand it for some reason.
Like my brother, no one is gonna judge you for building yourself up from tier 2 again.

blaZek1ng is 28, and going from international Tier1 salary to domestic T2 local indo salary might be a factor. AE roster probably best chance indo will ever get in 2025 Ascension, and if he's not in that roster, probably not worth competing. Also if he's ever back in Tier1, highly unlikely he ever get into a champions competing roster anyway considering his age.

He's already 28, staying in Tier 2 isn't worth it.

He's a smart guy, better to head back to an office job or start his own business than gamble the next 1-2 years on something uncertain.

you say this because you think about it competitively, but going from a monthly salary of minimum 5k to a F/A team or any org isnt good honestly, specially if you have to pay rent and debts and whatever else exist

Tier 2 isn't really sustainable on its own, not just for orgs but for players as well. It's only worth it if you see a clear path into tier 1.

For someone like blazek1ng, he'd need to massively improve to make the jump back. Not because he's not good enough for tier 1 per se, but the skill floor is increasing every year, orgs will always prefer younger players. He'd need to massively stand out from a large crowd of insanely talented and hungry tier 2 prospects.

Realistically he's not making it back, and I honestly think retiring is the wisest career choice.

Hes one of the reason they beat FURIA in off season. Put some number in his team on the league a couple times. But somehow stupidly choose to defend benkai (which played very poor that match) & talkshit to the fans after. Deserved tbh

GE's first international roster created the likes of Monyet and Texture but made ayrin, bazzi and wronski retire and skrossi fall into t2. GE's whole second international roster players are now free agents and are still not signed by any T2 org - benkai, russ, polvi, lightning and this made Glaze retire.

So it is safe to say that your career might be at stake when you join GE

Bazzi had military service.
Ayrin easily had other options. He 'chose' to retire.
Wronski - not sure if any other t1 team had an eye on him when GE signed him. It's not like they signed star players, and they retired after the season.
Which players that are let go by partnership teams this season have joined a t2 team?

I am a professional GE hater but you are wrong here

Wronski left valorant because he wanted to start a business
Bazzi had military service
Ayrin didn't wanted to continue playing eSports because he was playing over 10+ years
Skrossi falled to tier2 because of SKILL ISSUE this has nothing to do with GE he was just bad like that

But this doesn't change the fact that the management at GE is still shit if we see from the pov of SA , they are doing pretty good internationally but as an SA org they are complete thrash no contribution towards their region just fake promises.
