How is FNS still a Franchise Player?

Look at this career by him

I don't hate FNS, I think he's a very funny, nice guy but idk how NRG still has him and brought him back last year. It's basically a 4v5 with his mechanics. I've ever only play like a radiant in maybe 2 pro matches. There's so many better talent out there that has a better chance of making an even better team. I do know he's retiring next year and said he's making way for new players so he probably knows this.

because hes like boaster where hes ass at aiming but godlike at calling

But others can do the same and have a potential to be even better calling wise with more experience. We've seen johnqt go from losing T2 to getting a shot at T1 and winning a international trophy in his first ever T1 LAN.

Yeah but you say that but FNS has always had a top 5 team in the world every year he’s been IGLing. Other than last year in the second half of the season, he’s always qualified to international events and he’s proven himself countless times.

If you honestly think that an IGL who has had his team in the top 5 for all of his career doesn’t deserve to be in the league, you have to be arguing in bad faith

Fns has the most experience in the entire scene right now. Yeah, you can get someone who can frag and Might have just as good calls, but theyre gambles at the end of the day.

Getting Johnqt to Sentinels was a gamble, he bottled Ascension qual and always choked super important games on previous rosters too. It obviously worked out, but there's a lot of risks when getting IGLs that still have a lot to prove experience wise.

How are they ever gonna get the experience when we keep players like FNS that's starting to dwindle down from his peak and is old with little time when there's players stuck in T2 that look good in T2 but never play in T1? Players like Demon1 and Verno would stuck in T2 if they didn't look amazing and a team decided to pick them up.

You wait till FNS retires, simple. I don't agree as a spectator that FNS should be a top IGL priority, but he's one of the safest picks if you wanna build a team with good chances of doing decently.

hes not a safe pick if you take into account how hes gonna frag. its rough trying to find 2 good shooters with 1 best in the world material shooter. its the only way to make this really bad igl in terms of fragging work. fnatic/optic already showed this

…Why do you think teams rather pick up safe bets than gamble on unproven IGLs? Maybe because they have to pay the mfs

being fair he is arguably worse mechanically and better calling-wise

This game is not all aim. You saw how previous nrg was aim demons but couldn't call for shit. Same with kc and many other teams. Fns can call good mid rounds that win rounds i rather the team win rounds than fns aim duel and get traded

The problem with NRG wasn't the calling. They players didn't know how to use the agents they were playing. Sure the calling was bad but even if it was good it doesn't change the fact Demon1 is gonna get shit on in the entry, it doesn't change the fact that Victor is shit at lurking.

i assure you THE problem was definitely the calling.

Just try to analyse the decisions they were making before FNS came in, that shit was horrendous, they were fully disorganised and it got much better once FNS came back

I would actually make the counter argument that it was the calling that was the major issue for the team. The sample size is small but the team was never cohesive, it was always based of individuals. Their defensive rotations were awful and never had a good read. The team completely flipped when FNS and s0m rejoined.

Yes D1 has a small agent pool but they could've easily when victor raze and d1 smokes on maps like bind, lotus and split, which they did change after. I can't fault them for trying the d1 raze bc it probably worked in scrims. Compared to 2023 sen, they didn't have bad role issues

#22

It flipped because the roles were perfect. Victor back to aggressive entry, FNS on senti, Ethan on flex. Once roles are fixed then the chemistry/cohesiveness will also fix itself. SEN 2023 has a plethora of role issues but once we figured out the problem with adding johnqt and zellsis the chemistry was perfect.

Yes, it went to more comfortable and permanent roles like you mentioned. However, it doesn't dictate the environment of the team. Even if the original roster has vic full time duelist and d1 on senti/ secondary smokes, marved ontroller, ethan flex, crashies recon. I don't believe it would've changed anything because their macro approach to the games was horrible. Roles don't effect how you read the game.

the problem was LITERALLY the calling, you either 1. did not watch the games whatsoever or 2. are trying to argue this point of “fns bad in ranked so he bad in pro too 🤓” he’s never had good mechanics but hes a god tier mid rounder and a top 3 igl in the world

Same reason as boaster; though in fnatics case finding a new igl is harder than it is for NRG

You can ride the success of your past achievements very far in esports. Even if you were not a part of the reason they won. No one will ever look at your stats and newer consumers of esports will just take what someone else says for canon.

So if you wanna stay in your bubble of narratives, I'm all for it. Don't ever go to liquipedia and actually look. All your heroes will become human.

Achievements do not fully determine how good a player is. They define maybe 65% of a player. MaKo never won anything but he's the best controller and imo top 10 player itw. FNS was Top 2 in 2022 but has slowly gotten worse with his team and time went on. Just because he won a masters doesn't mean he's gonna forever be a top player. Is bonecold still a top player?

FNS was a top 2 player?

I think a top 2 player could achieve above a 1.00 rating... right?

Top 2 in IGL in 2022. Tied with saadhak. FNS is maybe a top 50 player without the IGLing.

what do u have to say about players like Xeppaa who consistently maintain their "radiant" rank during streams but fail to qualify for a single international LAN since 4 years yet have a position in franchised?

comparing ranked in stream with a bunch of stream snipers and shit to actual pro play is just wild lol

i feel like his calling and igling definitely makes up for his mechanics

nrg looked infinitely better when ethan got off igl and fns called. they didn’t look like headless chickens anymore

his value as a player is so nuanced and hard to measure

That's because Ethan is not a good IGL, simple as that. I do agree his calling is good but to lift an international trophy nowadays takes more than just calling, no room for poor firepower

no surprise ethan couldnt igl hes not an igl, its like telling derke to do midround. it was a disaster waiting to happen. people need to compare those who are actually calling. boostio/valyn/munchkin/kinggg are all great callers and mid to good shooters. the tradeoff for igling for mechanics will never win you a title unless you have a dynamic of 3-4 top of the line shooters

He doesn't relia in his firepower has much (because mechanically, he's not that good)

And ranked is super hard to take serious when you go against winnerpoo287

That's why most pros stopped grinding ranked and instead they play 10 mans

So I'm pretty sure FNS doesn't take ranked seriously (rightfully so)

Ranked still shows mechanical prowess though.

Zekken, N4RRATE, primmie all great in ranked and in the pro matches all insane.

FNS, redgar, JessieVash, c0m all have horrible KDs and in matches? Consistently bottom frag.

It doesn't show anything but mechanical skill. That's why I'm not saying he's not great IGL cuz he is, I'm saying he's absolutely horrible mechanically same with other players like I mentioned.

this site is an echochamber that has no choice but to think that every little call and idea is coming from the boss fns and that without fns the players all of a sudden turn into headless chickens. they fail to see that there are other options and that fns is more of a detriment than a plus. they will use 2024 nrg as an example, but their failure was due to role issues and nobody with the experience of calling. they think that it must be either fns or nobody, even if fns has been horrible since 2022 after losing the best fragger in the world at the time.

fns is riding his legacy since valorant was a young game and he was ahead of time, along with being a veteran from prior experience. people have caught up to his calling and surpassed his lowbar shooting, yet viewers cant and wont acknowledge it without comms videos. Best calls yet called an 0-4 against blg.

This what I'm saying. He was good in 2021 and phenomenal in 2022 but when others caught up to him he just looks like a horrible player playing in franchise for his legacy rather than talent.

you cant talk about any IGL playing bad without people coping on this site, they refuse to even think for themselves off the games that they watched, well majority of them anyways some of them come to this conclusion with watching just the game themselves and not a costream which im fine with. they did the same thing for yay for months till they finally realized maybe it isnt his team but him

Saadhak is beyond his time
Boaster is FAR beyond his time, especially with fnatic falling apart he will just be a new redgar
FNS shouldve never been brought back. most likely a comfort pick since he was already on the team but that team didnt go far and they need to stop recycling the same talent in hopes that eventually it will work out

Just look at how won this year.

SEN
GEN.G
EDG

What do they all have in common? Fragging IGLs
Top 3 at Champs this year all had a fragging IGL.
johnqt I do admit his fragging fell off a bit after Madrid which I'm sad for :(
