I thought going into champs it has to be Karon 100% but lowkey riens may have stolen it away. Personally I still think Karon but it’s definitely close

even if he won and absolutely did his job. you cant compare him to Karon or Riens in terms of performance
Karon would put this kid simon in his back pocket 24/7. Lets be real w ourselves now. Best rookie means achievements AND skill
even if you think that, across shanghai and madrid karon was more impactful than s1mon was at champs (imo)
thats also slightly overrating champs, while champs is more important than shanghai and especially madrid due to its more robust format and pedigree the sheer volume of matchups and games that karon played puts him over the edge
Not fair to say he is rookie of the year when he didn't even play the entire year.
Being consistent is also a big part of winning these "____ of the year" awards.
I don’t think he’s played enough to warrant winning the award but he’s still top 5 just from champs
Ik Karon and Riens are probably more deserving, but s1mon joined EDG like a month ago and suddenly EDG is a champion winning team.
s1mon too, guy is stone cold and is a clutch god
guy went from playing in an academy team to helping kangkang set up for success which is part of the reason why he got 111 kills
alongside coach changes, s1mon has been the game changer for this previously broken edg squad

All year wise, his impact was insane. He, for me was 2024's best player
S1mon just changed things and is now a world champion
But the real rookie has been Karon with accomplishments backing him up.
Recency bias riens dont have trophy and simon is nowhere near the level of karon. Lets be real w ourselves now
I never even mentioned s1mon but riens has been crazy all year that’s definitely not recency bias
