Terrible Atmosphere at Champs

I usually watch CS Esports so I had fairly high expectations, but you're telling me this is the crowd for VCT's biggest event of the year? It's so disappointing to see all the empty seats and a generally quiet crowd. Whenever something exciting happens in the match, the fans just start clapping and it's really confusing to me on how much passion is lacked in this community.

It's a relatively new Esport so you're going to have to account for that.

Fair point, but just considering how much people play this game, I'd just expect a bit more reaction from the crowd during big games.

It's also being held in Korea right now (milder crowds due to local esports culture), which makes a difference. If you look at the VCT 23 LOCK//IN event GF, which was held in Sao Paulo, you can see a clear difference in crowd atmosphere. Also, all the home teams have been eliminated so that lowers the excitement even more.

What's your point exactly? VCT tournaments have happened all around the world and it wasn't any better.

Valorant is a different demographic, a little geeky and beta some people would say. CS fans are like real sports fans, a bit unfair to compare

Even without comparison, I just felt like it was kinda dead tbh, not much going on.

Just so you know, the English broadcast doesn't have crowd mics actually on as opposed to the other Broadcast like the KR or Jp one. So the no hype or passion and just "clapping" you hear is just from the English broadcast letting out 1% of the crowd mic on. And unless you have forgotten Koreans don't really care about FPS games and this events were to pull the Korean audiences who are addicted to League of Legends over. Comparing 20+ years of Passion to 4 years of Passion is moronic and shouldn't even have been in the comparisons.

Not necessarily comparing, just mentioning what I'm used to and naturally that's what I would compare to but even disregarding CS the atmosphere itself is pretty terrible globally imo, whether the country likes FPS games or not. I've heard the crowd mic is turned down from a lot of people, is there any place you can hear the raw crowd sounds?

Your best bet would be to watch the Korean or Japanese broadcast but you must remember this country does not like FPS so the fact they even packed the venue a few times was a surprise to many Koreans
